I, Anthony Juliano, do find Mark Reyes to be an individual of outstanding moral and academic character. This letter is to provide evidence of eligibility based upon Mark’s involvement in the community of Sebring, Florida, through his musical outlets: Spirit of Sebring Marching Band and Highlands Little Theatre. The request of this scholarship is to aid Mark in his academic pursuit of Veterinary Medicine at South Florida State College. The outstanding qualities that qualify Mark for financial support are his servitude for others, goal orientation, goal accomplishment, team work, community involvement, community commitment, and academic responsibility. In today’s society, sorting through all of the student’s needing financial aid is daunting. My statement is simply to verify Mark’s legitimacy through his involvement in the SMS and SHS Band communities. I have served as director of both ensembles. This experience is unique. Students have to be dedicated, responsible, communicate, and work with others daily. Few students benefit and contribute as fully as Mark. Mark has been actively involved in music since 6th grade, where he began his study of alto saxophone. I became Mark’s instructor during 8th grade. During that year, Mark rose to lead as one of the supporting members of his section. When offered the opportunity to play baritone saxophone to help fill-out the band’s sound, Mark accepted. Mark worked hard and quickly mastered the instrument to perform with both the Concert and Jazz Band. In high school, Mark learned yet another instrument, mellophone, to assist the instrumentation of the ensemble. While Mark never adopted a leadership role within the band, he has always lead by example. Mastering his music quickly, marching with flawless technique, mentoring the younger members, and serving the bands needs for set-up or tear-down. Mark’s most remarkable quality is his ability to bring joy to others. Mark live his faith in Christ by being a friend to all, seeking actively to keep the group laughing and merry. Mark has always been goal driven in the five years I have known him. Excelling academically with near perfect grades despite his busy musical commitments. To close: I can confidently see Mark being a major contributor and activist within whatever community he decides to reside post-graduation. By investing in his future, you invest in his ability to make a difference in genuine service to others through the guidance of Christ.
