Artificial intelligence or AI or Machine Intelligence is a transformative
technology that will drive sustainable competitive advantage and business
value.
AI is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially
intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using
computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to
confine itself to methods that are biologically observable.
AI is typically defined as the ability of a machine to perform cognitive
functions we associate with human minds, such as perceiving, reasoning,
learning, and problem-solving. Artificial intelligence applies advanced
analysis and logic-based techniques, including machine learning, to interpret
events, support and automate decisions, and take actions.
By combining smart algorithms with automation software, new age
machines can find answers to business challenges with heretofore
unrealized speed and precision that augment and extend human
capabilities. This allows companies to design and deploy market-making and
market-leading data and analytics strategies that are sustainable and scale
with business ambitions.
AI can be categorized as ‘weak or narrow AI’ or ‘general or strong AI’.
1. Narrow or Weak AI is an AI system that is designed and trained for a
particular task which it can do at par or better than a human. Virtual
personal assistants, such as Apple's Siri or Google Assistant, are a
form of weak AI. The current research of AI is here now
2. General or Strong AI: An artificial intelligence reaches the general
state when it can perform any intellectual task with the same
accuracy level as a human would. When presented with an unfamiliar
task, a strong AI system will be able to find a solution without human
intervention. An AI is strong when it can beat humans in many tasks.
