The development of PTE UNY Study Program is based on a strong philosophy, namely
ontological (essence), epistemological (ways of thinking), and axiological (values).
Ontologically, the PTE UNY Study Program is based on Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the
Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Unity in
Diversity. PTE Study Program seeks to produce human beings who are Godhead, have humanity
that is just and civilized, unite and unity of Indonesia, have a strong and democratic attitude by

representation in justice, justice and social solidarity, patriotism in defense of the dignity and
integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, a variety of diversity, and committed to the intellectual
life of the nation. In short, this is manifested in UNY's motto "Leading in Character Education"
to produce students and graduates who have a strong Indonesian national character (nationalism)
so that one day they are expected to become Indonesian people who are of Indonesian identity,
have a comprehensive intelligent character, and are actively ready to participate in building
orderly, fair, safe and peaceful world life.

Epistemologically, the PTE UNY Study Program aims to form fully Indonesian people
who master science and technology so that they are able to actively participate in efforts to
improve the welfare of the Indonesian people. PTE UNY Study Program must be sensitive and
able to answer the challenges of the future of the Indonesian nation in the midst of the lives of
other nations of the world. For this reason, PTE UNY Study Program must be creative and
innovative in thinking, acting and acting in order to realize their vision.

Axiologically, PTE UNY Study Program is based on the noble values of the Indonesian
Nation, namely piety, independence, scholarship, and benefits for the community and nation.
UNY's PTE Study Program must encourage its citizens to practice their religion and beliefs
consistently and be willing to respect the practices of other religions to support the creation of
social peace.

Independence refers to the professionalism (ability) of a person who is strong in carrying

out his mandate so that the way of thinking, behaving, and acting is more likely to be based on
self-professionalism with full awareness of the consequences both for themselves, institutions,
society, and the nation, both in the short term and long-term.

Scholarly means that in thinking, acting, and acting, the academics of PTE UNY Study
Program always base on piety and truth, not for the benefit of individuals and groups. In other
words, PTE UNY Study Program encourages its citizens to be open to input from other parties.
Benefit means that all efforts taken by PTE UNY Study Program are able to support the
development of science and improvement of the lives of the people and nation of Indonesia.
Therefore, all Tridharma activities of tertiary institutions, namely education, research, and
community service, must be able to fully develop Indonesian people and be able to improve the
practices of the lives of the people and people of Indonesia.

UNY's PTE Study Program refers to diverse philosophical foundations of education,

namely existentialism (education must develop the potential of students), progressivism
(education must train rational thinking toward ideals), essentialism (education must refer to
noble values), perennialism (education must enlighten), and reconstructionism (education must
develop students' abilities to deal with change). The educational approach that is applied and
developed is the inclusive-incorporative approach in realizing the Pancasila national education
philosophy.
