Could you briefly tell us about the inception and growth of the
Institute?
The Siva Sivani Educational Society is more than 46 years old having
established its first school in the year 1961. The Siva Sivani Institute of
Management has been conducting Two year Full time Management course
since 1992 with the approval of AICTE. It is one of the top business schools
in the country with a consistent ranking of around 50’s with different
surveys. The Institute spreads on a sprawling own campus at Kompally,
Secunderabad which is away from madding crowd.

What are the programs offered by SSIM?

What is the classroom setup?


The Institute is equipped with state of the art facilities to provide good
quality education to the Management students. A completely new-worked
class room(LAN) with a class room server, Colour LCD Projector, Inter-active
Electronic Board, Audio Visual equipment, such as Audio and distribution
Amplifiers, speakers etc. equipped with suitable software to drive and
integrate all the high technology IT components for a contemporary and
competitive learning enviroment.

What are the facilities provided to the students at SSIM?


Each student is given a branded laptop, set of text books for all the subjects
freely. Entire campus is wifi with 24 hour internet facility. The institute is
equipped with full-fledged Library with large number of books and journals.
Meritorious students are awarded Gold medals and Cash awards. Accident
policy is taken for each student for Rs 1.50 lakhs per annum during the
study. There is compulsory Foreign study tour to all the students. Institute
has setup a center for foreign languages where all our students are trained
atleast one foreign language. As all the programs are residential from 2009-
2010 academic year, students have access to faculty and guests from the
industry at all the times and learning becomes intense.

What is the process of admission?


The admission process is fairly detailed. Aspirants have to take one of the
tests from CAT/XAT/ATMA/MAT/JMET/Any State level Admission test for
management courses followed by Group Discussion, Personal Interview
conducted by SSIM at several important centers in the country.

In how many phases will the admission process be held?


There are two sessions April Session and June Session. For April Session
GD/PI will be conducted in January and for June Session, GD/PI will be in
March/April.
April Session : PGDM-Marketing and PGDM – HR
June/July Session : PGDM – Triple Specialization and PGDM-BIFAAS

For April session classes commence in the 2nd week of April
For June session classes commence in the last week of June

What are the various components and weightages in the admission


process?
Listed below are the components and their weightages.
Aptitude test (CAT/MAT/XAT/ATMA/JMET) : 50%
Group Discussion : 20%
Personal Interview : 15%
Academic Background : 10%
Work Experience : 05 %

What is the procedure for registration?

Process of online Registration: Take a DD of Rs.800 favouring Siva Sivani


Institute of Management, payable at Hyderabad/Secunderabad, Fill the
online application form on www.ssim.ac.in and then send the DD to the
Institute after mentioning your name and ID that is generated during
registration.

Alternatively, you may collect the application form from the institute or
download from the website (www.ssim.ac.in) and send the filled application
form to the Institute’s address along with a DD of Rs.800 as mentioned
above so as to reach the Institute by the specified last date.

If you fail to register before the last date, you may register on the spot at
the GD/PI venue along with Rs.800 in cash or DD and the xerox copies of the
score card & copies of marks memos from 1oth to degree.

Is it a must to receive a call letter from the Institute to apply for


your Institute?

It is not necessary to receive call letter from the Institute. Please look at the
eligibility criteria for applying.

Is there any cut off for overall test score or individual sections of
the test?
There is no cut off either at the overall score or at the individual sections.
We give 50 percent weightage for the overall score in the admission process
and the merit list is prepared considering all the components i.e. Aptitude
test, GD, PI, Academic Background & Work Experience. However, SSIM has
the discretion to fix the minimum score required, from time to time.

What are the centers for GD and PI?

What is the infrastructure in the campus?


The Institute is equipped with state of the art facilities to provide good
quality education to the Management students. Campus is Wifi enabled with
24hr internet facility, class rooms with LCD Projector, Interactive Electronic
Boards, Audio Visual equipment, etc., and well equipped library.

Is there separate hostel for Boys and Girls?


Yes.

How about the faculty at SSIM?


At present, have 40 full time highly experienced faculty members with a
judicious mix from both academia and industry and are also involved in
research and consultancy. In addition to the fulltime faculty, SSIM draws
support from the external faculty.

What is the mode of curriculum delivery at SSIM?

SSIM is a pioneer in designing and implementing an innovative teaching-
learning methodology. Curriculum for all the courses is well designed with
an element of flexibility and it gets restructured every year as per the
market demand with approval from the Academic Advisory Board that
consists of representatives from the industry and academia. Enough focus is
given to IT related courses including SAP. This has been done to make the
management students fully competitive in the modern environment.
Additionally, there are innovative pedagogy practices such as Book review
sessions, Article Review sessions, Current Business Trends, Case Studies,
Live Projects, etc. Students have full quota of industry interface with
industrial visits, guest lectures from the industry and rigorous internship.

Are there any extra and co-curricular activities at the Institute?


Siva Sivani strongly believes in motivating the students to become leaders,
by giving them ample opportunity to explore what they have within them. In
order to provide such opportunities, Siva Sivani has designed various extra
curricular activities such as Sammelan (Intra collegiate meet), Samanvay
(Intercollegiate Management Students’ meet), Sameeksha (Club Activities
under HR, Finance, Marketing and Systems Clubs), Samaroh (National
Seminar), etc., which also enable the students to understand the
importance of co-ordination, teamwork, group dynamics, oneness etc.

How about Placements?


There is a full-fledged Placement department headed by Director and ably
assisted by Dy. Director and Corporate relationship officers. Siva Sivani
group also has floated an organization namely ‘Siva Sivani Global Centre for
HR Excellence’ to assist SSIM students and others for placements and
training. Some of our recruiters include HDFC, DELOITTELE, ABN Amro,
HSBC, Time, Reliance group, coca Cola, HCL, Asian Paints, CITI group, ICICI
group, Kotak group, ADP, Madras Cements etc,. SSIM has near 100%
placement record under the guidance of the group director operations
supported by Asst. Director(Placements) and a team of professional traniers
and cooperate relationship officers to liaison with.

Are there any tie-ups or Joint ventures or MOUs, etc., with other
Organizations which would benefit the students and the institute?
1. Tied up with HDFC Bank and 3i Infotech to offer specialized programs
of the company in the second year to improve the employability
opportunities in these companies and to reach the expectations of the
company by the new entrants right from the day one of their
employment.

2. Having a tie up with TMI consultants, Hyderabad for placements and
for live projects in all the specializations throughout the year.
3. Tie-up with Siva Sivani Global Centre for HR Excellence to provide
domestic and global placements to the students of SSIM.
4. Entered into franchise arrangement with M/S Hughes Communications
India Ltd., to provide Satellite Management Programs offered by IIMs,
XLRI, etc., for working executives/students.
5. SSIM has started a BPO to provide RPO services and this center
provides opportunity to students of SSIM to have hands on experience.
6. ‘Industry - Institute – Interface’ with public and private sector
companies like BHEL, Byrraju Foundations, etc.

What is the current standing / ranking of the Institute?


SSIM is the largest AICTE approved Autonomous Business school in South
India with a permitted intake of 300 students from the academic year 2007-
08. As per CSR-GHRDC Survey 2008, SSIM is ranked 54 in the country and
30th amongst all promising B-Schools of excellence.
