Assumptions:
 At this level, SS already know the concepts of food >
healthy/unhealthy (pre-taught in previous lessons) also, they are
supposed to have a good vocabulary related to colours and numbers.

Anticipated Problems:

 Even though T believes there will not be problems with vocabulary it is


possible that one or two students find some words difficult.

Solutions:

 If a student finds any word difficult to come up with the meaning, T helps
him/her individually.

Stage Time Procedure Materials


Warmer 15’ Circle time. T welcomes SS with the hello Hello song audio
song. Laptop
Then, T plays hot potato with SS. She shows a Speakers
ball/stuffed animal and tells them they will Cables
pass it on and once the song stops the one Ball/Stuffed
with the ball/stuffed animal will say his/her animal
name to the group. T models the activity: My
name is Simone.
Pre-reading 5’ T displays the book The very hungry The very hungry
caterpillar and asks the following questions caterpillar slides
pointing to the caterpillar: Laptop
What’s this? Is it a boy? Is it a cat? No, it’s a Projector
caterpillar. What colour is it? cables
T moves on to the Sun and asks: What’s this?
It’s the Sun.

Reading 10’ Storytelling. T reads the story aloud to SS, The very hungry
while T tells the story, she acts as if the caterpillar slides
Caterpillar is eating the food by putting them Caterpillar “bag”
into the Caterpillar bag. Flashcards

Post-reading 20’ After reading the story, the T shows a poster Poster
with two columns of healthy/unhealthy food Flashcard
and hands out food flashcards taken from the
story to SS. Then, T asks them to sort them
out into the correct column. T models the
activity by putting the first food into the healthy
column.
