Radio waves

 T.V and communication satellites

 Radar
 F.M

Infrared Waves
 Remote control and communication
 Night vision and infrared cameras
 Astronomy
(Infrared astronomy has helped us make significant strides in our
understanding of the universe. Astronomers can look at an area of the sky that
is dark in the visual part of the electromagnetic spectrum )
 Infrared bulbs
(These are used by some restaurants to keep food warm )

Visible Spectrum or light

This is a very tiny part of the spectrum but extremely important as Humans can
only see this part of our spectrum.

 Human Eyes and to look around

(This application may seem silly but it really does play our vital role in our lives
we can see anything or everything in this world because light or electromagnetic
wave bounces of objects and we sense it because its image is formed on the retina
which is then decoded by our brains.)
 Bulbs,car headlights,LEDs and many more
Ultraviolet spectrum
 The UV Lamp
(It attracts insects and Near it There are high voltages which kill the insects.)

 In Hospitals
(Many hospitals safely and easily use UV light for sterilizing surgical equipment as
well as the air in operating rooms. Also germicidal lamps are successfully used in
air conditioning systems of medical and other facilities as a method to sterilize
pathogens that cause illness, and contaminants that can aggravate asthma or other
respiratory ailments.)
 To sterilize food

To treat Water
X-rays

 Medicine
(The main use of X-rays is in medicine. A common application is in the form of X-
ray machines, which take photos of a patient’s body. If an arm or leg were broken
for example, then this limb would be put in front of the X-ray with a piece of
photographic film behind.)

 At airports
(To check customers and baggage .)
 X-ray diffraction
(It is also very important in spectroscopy and as a basis for X-ray crystallography.)

Gamma Rays

Because Gamma rays can kill living cells, they are used to kill cancer cells without
having to resort to difficult surgery.

This is called "Radiotherapy", and works because healthy cells can repair
themselves fairly well when damaged by gamma rays - but cancer cells can't.
Getting the dose right is very important!
 Targeted radiotherapy
(Here a radioactive substance is used to kill cancer cells - but it's a substance that'll
be taken up by a specific part of the body, so the rest of the body only gets a low
dose. An example would be using radioactive iodine to treat cancer in the thyroid
gland.)

 Tracers:
(Doctors can put slightly radioactive substances into a patient's body, then scan the
patient to detect the gamma rays and build up a picture of what's going on inside
the patient. This is very useful because they can see the body processes actually
working, rather than just looking at still pictures.)
