Chapter I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND


Introduction
Nowadays the development of (ICT) Information communication and technology

is now more rapid and has affected the world of education (Zhou, 2016). One of ICT

technology that develop learning process in the world of education is E- learning.

According to Guri-Rosenblit (2015), E- learning is the use of electronic media for a variety

of learning purposes that range from add on functions in conventional classrooms to full

substitution for the face to face meetings by online encounters. The use of e-learning

improve quality of learning process to be more productive and efficient, both for teacher

and learners like students (Bullock, 2017). Quipper school is a system used to support

teaching and learning activities known as learning management system (Huang, 2016).

They'll also added that quipper learning integrated into an online system facilitates teachers

and learners to access the information needed through a system. Quipper school has two

main program. There are quipper link and quipper learn. Quipper link help teacher to

manage an online learning such as create educational content, check student progress, send

assignment and practice examination, while quipper learn help student to study ( Chaowalt

& Saekhow, 2016). Through quipper, learning process packed to be fun and safe.

One of the factor that determine learning process to be successful is student's

motivation. According to Jen and Yong (2016), Motivation divided into two types, intrinsic

motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation illustrated by personal

enjoyment, interest or pleasure, whereas extrinsic motivation illustrated by reinforcement

contingencies, while extrinsic motivation can be stimulate by several factors like


instructional materials for student. If teaching can provide interest in several factors, such

as format and materials, the students are sure to direct their motivations towards mastering

them, while if the teaching factors are not guarantee interest, educators may not be able to

ensure students willingly to learn in any given cases (Marko, 2015). In other words students

will not learn well when they go at it without putting their hearts on it.

The study aims to know the effect of online learning using quipper school on

student motivation that are currently studying at San Roque National High School

Paombong, Bulacan S.Y. 2019-2020. With an online learning using quipper, teacher will

be easy to provide several learning instructional such as interesting media like multimedia.

The study will also aim that it will greatly help increase student motivation and teachers

learning management.

Statement of the Problem

The study aims to know the effect of web-based learning quipper school on student

motivation. This study seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What is the effect of web-based quipper school to the learnings of the students?

2. How may the students feel motivated by using of web- based quipper school?

3. Is there a significant differences between the online learning and natural teaching

of teacher in respect to the academic performance of the student?


Significance of the study

The study will seek to know the effect of web-based learning quipper school on student

motivation in San Roque National High School (SRNHS). The following are the

beneficiaries:

Students. The result of the study will help the students to improve their knowledge, obtain

better grade and increase their motivation while performing in class. As well as improves

student technological skill.

Teachers. As a second parent of the students, the teacher will be easy to provide several

learning instruction such as interesting media like multimedia in to their students. Also

they'll able to obtain easily the grade and the performance teacher’s technological skill and

easy learning management.

Parents. They will be able to cognizes easily the grade and the performances of their

children. Their parents will no longer have to force their children to go to school, yet they

automatically go to school with no force of parents because of quipper school e-learning.

The parents will also know that their children now have better grade and good performance

on the school.

Future Researchers. They will be able to use the findings of the study for further research

and investigation particularly related to the web-based learning quipper school on student

motivation.
Scope and Delimitation

The study will focus on the effect of web-based learning quipper school on student

motivation. The study will be conducted at San Roque National High School Paombong,

Bulacan S.Y. 2019-2020. The respondents will be the Senior High School Department with

the total of sixty (60) respondents specifically from the section of 11- Illustrator and 11-

Lightroom. The respondents will be selected based on the criteria that the researchers set.

The researcher will interview students in the section of 11- Illustrator and 11-Lightroom

and ask who are literate in social media.

The data are specifically develop base on the subject and problem of a research. The study

will be limited on a dependent and independent variable of a research.
