Living In The IT Era

Given that we have ICT Curriculum, are we now capable to provide a knowledge based society?

Knowledge based society is an innovative and life long learning society, which possesses a community of
scholars, researchers, engineers, technicians, research networks and firms engaged in research and in
production of high technology goods and service provision.

I can say that we cannot create a knowledge based society right now even though we're already in the
21st century for the reason that not all people here in the Philippines are computer literate. For
example, in the remote areas, some of them don't even got the chance to go to school so it means that
some of them don't even know the existence of ICT.

Although, based on the research of ITU ( International Telecommunication Union) on January 2014, it
was reported that there were 37. 6 Million Internet users, of which 34 million were on Facebook in the
Philippines. But that doesn't mean that we're already a knowledge based society since not all of those
37 millions know how to use ICT

But we are capable to provide a knowledge based society if the government focuses on expanding it to
the remote areas and if those 37 million use the ICT right.
