The information of Signal Processing Performance of JMA-9800 "NCD-4111A".
And how to change the parameter for getting better performance.

2. Contents
We have some worse performance in AUTO-RAIN and AUTO-SEA processing.
a) AUTO-RAIN mode
We have weak echo on display in using AUTO-RAIN because of harder effect in unti rain processing.
b) AUTO-SEA mode
We have noisy echo on display in using AUTO-SEA because of the setting for narrow display
dynamic range.
c)MANUAL-SEA mode
We have harder effect on CCW position in using MANUAL-SEA because of preset STC.

Then we have relaeased new software Ver.02.13, and we give how to change the parameters for signal
processing to get better result.
Please read “The modification method “ in Appendix.

2) Please read its SYSTEM No.

NCD-4111 ( without ‘A’ ) : 00.xx or 01.xx ( x : don’t care )

The fact of software up date:

The products forwarded after 21st. Oct. 2002 have already changed in factory, therefore it’s not
necessary to change the parameters.
How to confirm its software version.
a) Please check its PCB of CMC-1143
It’s labeled “MAIN Ver.02.13” on PCB.
b) Please check its SYSTEM No. on TEST MENU – SYSTEM INFO.
Ver.02.13 or later : already changed
Ver.02.12 or before : not changed, please change the parameters.
The modification method for signal processing of JMA-9800

1. AUTO-RAIN
(1) The purpose
If the echo would be weak in using AUTO-RAIN mode, please change the following values.
(2) The method
a. Set the Radar as MASTER mode if you use Inter-Swiching-System.
b. Set the Radar as 1.5NM range and SHORT-PULSE (SP).
c. Continue to press MENU.
-> The CODE IPUT MENU will appear.
d. Press 9, 8, 0, 0, 9, 4, then ENT.
-> The SPECIAL SP MENU will appear.
e. Press CFAR button on the display by using CURSOR.
-> The CFAR MENU will appear.
f. Press the value of CELL NUMBER AR of MAIN.
-> The INPUT DIALOG BOX will appear.
g. Press 4, 0, then END.
h. Change the PULSE WIDTH to MP.
i. Press the value of CELL NUMBER AR of MAIN.
-> The INPUT DIALOG BOX will appear.
j. Press 4, 0, then END.
k. Change the PULSE WIDTH to LP.
l. Press the value of CELL NUMBER AR of MAIN.
-> The INPUT DIALOG BOX will appear.
m. Press 4, 0, then END.
n. Change the values in 3/6/12/24/48/96/120NM range as following table.

If the picture would be noisy in using AUTO-SEA mode, please change the following value.
(2) The method
a. Continue to press MENU.
-> The CODE IPUT MENU will appear.
b. Press 9, 8, 0, 0, 9, 4, then ENT.
-> The SPECIAL SP MENU will appear.
e. Press DYNAMIC RANGE button on the display by using CURSOR.
-> The DYNAMIC RANGE MENU will appear.
f. Press the value of MULTIPLE CONST of MAIN.
-> The INPUT DIALOG BOX will appear.
g. Press 1, 7, then END.

a. Continue to press MENU.
-> The CODE IPUT MENU will appear.
b. Press 9, 8, 0, 0, 1, then ENT.
-> The UTILITIES MENU will appear.
e. Press 7.
-> The SET FUNC MENU will appear.
f. Press 6.
-> The MAIN GSR PRESET MENU will appear.
g. Press 3.
-> The SEA MIN PRESET MENU will appear.
h. Press 0, then ENT.
