 INTRODUCTION

Online bus ticket reservation is a web based application that allows visitors to
check bus ticket availability, buy bus tickets and pay for the bus ticket online .It is
a modern way of travelling in this modern age. It provides transportation system, a
facility to reserve seats, cancellation of seats and different types of enquiry who
needs quick and instant reservation .In today’s world “time is money” no
individual has the time to stand in the queue for hours to purchase a bus ticket so
our website ‘safari sewa’ helps for those individuals to book the tickets .Not only
that it helps our customers to check the availability of buses, pre-bookings,
cancellation of tickets, etc.

In addition to that the visitors can choose their destinations to visit . Our visitors
can also choose their shifts i.e. Morning, day and night shift. We are available with
both deluxe and non-deluxe safari, so our visitors can choose which they are
comfortable with .We ensure that our visitors will not have any problem with our
facilities.

 PROBLEM STATEMENT

Currently, in the context of Nepal the system of booking ticket is manual to sell
the tickets and to manage bus seat booking. Company invests huge amount to
install bus as well as counters. Many costumers find hard to contact and go to
ticket counters each time they want to find whether there is available ticket on the
time they want to depart. They find very difficult to know the full details of the
bus like bus schedule, contacts of local representatives, bus no, etc. It will take
quite some time to do the process of finding the available ticket and often involved
some cost to do so. We need to visit counter again to cancel the ticket that also
costs more to do so.

We are developing this site to solve the problem of manual and typical bus
booking system. This site gives the features to book the ticket online and to pay
by online method system. It will be less time consuming and costumer needn’t to
feel difficult to contact any of the counter. It will give you all the information
about bus and about its schedule. This will make both costumer and company easy
to book and sell tickets.

 OBJECTIVE

The scope of this project is wide nowadays as many people want to reserve ticket
seating at home which will save their time and energy.

This system is said to be an automatic system and customers can select seats by
themselves. Specifically, objectives of this project will consist of:

 Providing a web-based bus ticket reservation function where a customer can

buy bus ticket through the online system without a need to queue up at the
counter to purchase a bus ticket.

 Anyone can book any bus company ticket from our system in the easiest
way.

 Enabling customers to check the availability and types of busses online.

Customer can check the time departure for every ITC bus through the
system.

 Ability of customers to cancel their reservation.

 Admin user privileges in updating and canceling payment, route and vehicle
records.

METHODOLOGY

The system of collecting data for research project is known as research

methodology. The data may be collected for either theoretical or practical research
for example management research may be strategically conceptualized along with
operational planning method and change management. Information which was
used for this study was carried out by oral interview. Choice of Methodology for
any project to be completed, it has to go through stages called Development Life
Cycles. System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is the process of understanding
how an Information System (IS) can support business needs, designing the system,
building it and delivering it to users.

A data flow diagram (DFD) is a graphical representation of the "flow" of data

through an information system, modeling its process aspects. A DFD shows what
kind of information will be input to and output from the system, where the data
will come from and go to, and where the data will be stored.
The development of DFD’S is done in several levels. Each process in lower level
diagrams can be broken down into a more detailed DFD in the next level. The
Top-level diagram is often called context diagram. It consist a single process bit,
which plays vital role in studying the current system. The process in the context
level diagram is exploded into other process at the first level DFD.

A use case is a description of a system’s behavior as it responds to a request that

originates from outside of that system (the user).

HTML:

HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is most building block of web. It defines the
meaning and structure of web content. It is the standard mark-up language for
documents design to be displayed in web browser. It can be assisted by technologies
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and scripting language such as JavaScript. Web
browsers receive HTML documents from a web server or local server and render the
documents into multimedia webpages.

Cascading style sheet (CSS):

Cascading style sheets are used to format the layout of Web pages. They can be
used to define text styles, table sizes, and other aspects of Web pages that previously
could only be defined in a page's HTML. CSS helps to create uniform look across
several pages of a web site.

JavaScript:

JavaScript is a programming language commonly used in web development. It was

originally developed by Netscape as a means to add dynamic and interactive
elements to websites. While JavaScript is influenced by Java, the syntax is more
similar to C and is based on ECMAScript, a scripting language developed by Sun
Microsystems.

 EXPECTED OUTCOME

With the increase of internet users, e-commerce has been more popular than ever.
In this age of technology with people becoming busier by the day, they prefer the
work which can be completed easily through internet over the tedious manual
work.
Our project “Online ticket reservation” is made with the intention to replace the old
method of manually going to stations for ticket booking and reservations. After the
completion of the project, we have expected the following outcomes.
 There will be no need to go to the station and stay in a queue for purchasing
a ticket.

 People will be able to book a ticket to their desired destination from

anywhere and anytime, saving their precious time.

 They will be able to choose the time, route, vehicles and even seats of their
own liking for their travel, making the trip more enjoyable.

 The users can even postpone or cancel their previous bookings.

 Addition of online payment system in ticket booking system will ensure

consistent and low price rate than from purchasing tickets manually from
ticket vendors.

 Safe and smooth online transaction unlike the unfair price rates, the risk of
losing money, pickpocketing and theft in stations.
