Cover Letter

This is my application for the Diploma of Music Production course.

Upon attending the info night at the Brisbane Campus, SAE seems like
a great match considering my fondness for music production and
sound, and desire to further my knowledge and experience by learning
in an established and creative environment.

Taking part in the Diploma of Music Production will provide me with

access to recording studios, and cutting-edge hardware and software. I
am looking forward to utilise the course to establish and better my
comprehension of sound production, audio engineering, and the music
industry, as well as contribute to the student community.

I’m sure that SAE will be more than suitable to give me the knowledge
and experience I am looking for.

Personal Profile

I’ve always had an intense passion for music and sound since I began learning the drums at age four and
a half. I started keyboard lessons when I was eight, and took a three year break before starting to teach
myself. I taught myself music theory with the keyboard, and have developed an understanding of modes,
chord functions and intervals, and can read sheet music and chord notation.

I started teaching myself guitar at age 12, going on to take lessons at school for a semester, and then
continuing to teach myself at home. I did alto saxophone lessons with the school band and performed in
the ensemble at ​Ignition ​as a part of the Runcorn State High School open evening for an audience of
150+ students and parents. I picked up the alto sax quickly, and was pleased to move from lessons to
playing in the band much sooner than anticipated.

Ever since first using Reason in 2015, I have been utterly captivated with audio production. What started
from taking MIDI and assigning instruments quickly went to writing and recording, and synthesising​ ​all
sorts of strange, different instruments. Writing music - manipulating sounds - really playing with them.
The entire thing really fascinates me.
