Yogya at Glance:
Yogya Group is on of the modern retail company in Indonesia. YOGYA operating their
business with supermarket format and Department Store. Their store generally offers large variety of
products, ranging from basic family utilities products to other complement products. More than 200
products are available in the store to fulfill the needs of the costumers.
Problem Scope:
Concentrating on Yogya Supermarkets or Department Store, please propose a use of Big Data
to generate more profit.

Answer:
According to the case, the examples were Macy and Wall-Mart which were same business
segment with Yogya. All of them were retailer store. Thus, there were several benefits occurred if
Yogya used the Big Data for their business:
1. Tracking the consumer behaviors and habit by using recorded data in Yogya member car.
It can analyze about when they purchased the product, what products that they buy, how
often they purchased the product and many things related to shopping behavior.
2. By knowing the needs and interests of costumer from the record, Yogya could give=
personal promotions for customers.
3. Trend prediction in order to anticipate the demand when the trend coming at the time.
Usually in Indonesia, particular special events mean high demand in particular goods. For
example at Idul fitri, demand of cookie box increase significantly than other day.
4. Right service in the right time. Number of employee should suit with number of consumers
that visit the store to give the best service, example: date ranging from 25 -30 were time to
family to shop their needs for a month, hence, Yogya has to provide more employees to
give best shopping service.
5. Predicting marketing method and choose it, which methods are better and which methods
are not. By using correct marketing method, Yogya can effectively reach their consumers
and the target, effectively
6. Since the price of the consumer goods are fluctuate, Yogya need a data to set the price in
the right numbers.
7. Decrease the risk of stock loss in warehouse by unrecognized human-errors. By using big
data, Yogya could track the availability of their products. Therefore, if any sales number
do not match with the number of the stock, they could track it and analyze the core problem.

8. Minimize the cost of the inventory, so they will have less dead stock in products that do
not perform well. Better inventory management.
