Urquhart Castle

Starting Salary: Thank you for your interest in the post of Visitor
Operations and Customer Service Staff with Historic
£18,250 per annum pro Environment Scotland, based at Urquhart Castle. This is
rata a part year permanent and pensionable appointment.
Pay Band:
A If in Urquhart Hub:
You may be expected to provide cover, assistance, and
Directorate: support to monuments in the Urquhart Hub. The Urquhart
Commercial and Tourism Hub includes the sites of Urquhart Castle and Fort
George. You will be primarily based at Urquhart Castle.
Location:
Urquhart Castle The role will predominantly provide key support to the
Visitor Operations team during peak periods, and the post

Our Priorities
As well as being able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, you should be
confident passing on your knowledge about and the history of the site to diverse groups of
people, and also be comfortable using the till system for the processing retail and
admissions sales. No two days are the same, and we are looking for someone who will enjoy
both the challenges and rewards of working at this historically important and inspiring
monument.
Customer Service
Processing of retail and admissions transactions through the till system
To ensure a high standard of presentation throughout the site
Support team in achievement of quality assurance KPIs
Actively support HS seminars, events, functions and promotions.
Promotion of retail products e.g. promote to customers how the HES site Souvenir
Guide book could enhance their visit.
Converse with visitors to promote what they can experience at other HES sites that
may be of interest to them.
Strive to provide the warmest welcome to our visitors and engage proactively with
customer service.
Teamwork
To proactively communicate with colleagues to ensure good performance, standards
and consistency of the team.
Work as part of a team to ensure that the Customer Service Industry Standards and
Quality Services Awards are maintained and participate in local action plan delivery.
Commercial Awareness
Team participation to achieve agreed commercial performance targets for the
monument.
Maximise commercial opportunities and capitalising on income generating
opportunities.
Assist Monument Manager to ensure accurate stock management and assist with
stock ordering and deliveries as required.

Health and Safety & Compliance
To ensure the security of the site, buildings and contents.
Monitor and comply with all H&S procedures/guidance relevant to the site.
To follow correct procedures to ensure safe operation of all equipment.
Ensure that the health and safety of staff, visitors and contractors is paramount at all
times.
Successful candidates will be required to attend our annual Induction event, held on the 17 th
March at the Holyrood Macdonald Hotel in Edinburgh and separate initial training workshops
(dates tbc). If you are unable to attend the Induction, you must inform us at the time of
application.
