A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH III on

Introduction/ Initial Tasks (River of Dreams)


Date: January 14 , 2015
OBJECTIVES:
a. Construct different viewpoints or opinions about a material listened to; and
b. Enhance or complement other’s viewpoints about certain issues or topics.

SUBJECT MATTER: Introduction/ Initial Tasks (River of Dreams)


Strategies/ Techniques: collaborative learning, recitation, group work,
Instructional Materials: chalk and board, photocopy of the crossword puzzle, pictures
Reference  A Journey Through Anglo- American Literature
Materials/Sources:

LEARNING PROCEDURE:
Review of the Previous  Review the listening text, A Day in School. How important is your listening skill
Lesson: in understanding a literary piece of work?
Motivation:  Ask students, what are your dreams in life?
Lesson Proper:
 Present the day’s objectives.
 Instruct students that they will be analyzing a song and some pictures.
 Discuss how the students construct different viewpoints.
 Provide some guide questions for the students and play the song, River of Dreams. Have them discuss and
share to class their answers.
Activity/ies:
 Have the students analyze some pictures. Let them talk about their viewpoints/ideas presented. Tell
students to relate the pictures to the social issues at present.
Closure:
 Enumerate some dreams from the song that are similar to your dreams.

END- OF- DAY EVALUATION/ASSESSMENTS:


 Have the students accomplish a similar chart found on page 428 of the LM.

ASSIGNMENT/EXTENSION ACTIVITIES:
 Answer the crossword puzzle on page 431 of LM. (Provide the students a photocopy)
 Read the, A Raisin in the Sun. (Provide a photocopy)
