Organized By
Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), an Autonomous Society (set up in 1960) under Ministry of Power,
Government of India, functions as a National Organization for applied research in power sector and also serves
as an Independent Laboratory for testing and certification of power equipment. CPRI provides consultancy
services on various facets of the power and energy sectors covering generation, transmission, distribution and
end-use. CPRI has vast expertise in the area of Energy auditing, Simulation, Diagnostics and System Analysis.
Over the years, CPRI officers have gained lot of practical knowledge concerning to testing and operational
problems of power plant and industry. CPRI is a leading provider of Training and Continuing Education to
Utilities, PSUs, across the country for the past 50 years.
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Division (ERED) of CPRI has been actively involved in Energy audits
of thermal, hydro, combined cycle & renewable energy power plants, process industries and buildings over two
decades. This Division of CPRI has state of the art facility in testing of inverter systems like High Voltage
Programmable Solar PV Simulator (DC source) with capacity of 1000 V, 750 A and 200 kW RLC loading
system to test both off-grid and grid connected inverters as per national and international standards
like IS 16169, IEC 62116, IS 16221-1/-2, etc. CPRI has upgraded the facility which is the India’s biggest
test facility with inverter testing capacity of 500 kVA to meet the requirements of the following
standards.
1. IS/IEC 61683:1999
2. IS 16169: 2018/ IEC 62116: 2014
3. IS 16221-1: 2016/ IEC 62109-1: 2010
4. IS 16221-2: 2015/ IEC 62109-2: 2011
Also CPRI is establishing facilities to test central inverters of capacity up to 5 MW.
ERED is accredited by both BIS and NABL for testing of power conditioning units like DC-DC controllers, off-
grid inverters, and grid connected inverters of different types like micro-inverters, string inverters and central
inverters, utility interface testing on grid connected inverters, safety and protection testing, efficiency testing
and islanding protection tests.
Interested professionals are invited to submit their experiences and ideas in the form of technical papers. The
selected papers will be published in the seminar proceedings.
Methodology
The seminar includes lectures by invited speakers with vast experience in grid integration of renewable energy
technologies. Apart from paper presentation, lab visit and demonstration of testing as per IEC/IS Standard also
will be arranged.
Interested participants are requested to register on or before 15th January 2020 by paying the registration fee
through demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Accounts Officer, CPRI’ payable at Bangalore or through online
