PRACTICALS
• All in the Central Workshop
• Means (initial extra exposure +fabrication
project activity)
Initial Extra Exposure (10%)
• Cut a gear blank from Steel Bar
• Make a central hole and keyway on Radial drilling
machine or shaper
• Support on mandrel and grind on the Cylindrical
grinding machine
• Cut spur gear teeth on Milling machine
• Re-sharpen single point cutting tool on a
Universal Tool and Cutter grinder
• Lathe accuracy: alignment tests
FABRICATION PROJECT(15%)
• Class divided into batches of 5 each
• Each batch will:
• Design (5%)
• Fabricate (5%)
• Demonstrate (5%), ONE PRODUCT.
• A Committee of chosen faculty members will
review the products and will grade for 15%
between Nov 7th to Nov 15th.
Important dates for fabrication project
• BATCH MAKING: Latest by 9TH AUGUST
• Display of list of projects: 9th AUGUST
• Submission of project selection by batch: 5PM,
10th August
• Submission of Design of the product by batches:
Latest by 5 PM, 20th August
• Design will include material selection also
Approval of Design: 25th August
• Beginning of Fabrication: 2nd September
• Final Demo: Between 7th to 15th November
Lecture slides and Notices
• All lecture slides will be regularly uploaded in
PDF to EDUCAN as soon as each topic is
finished
• All notices of the course will be displayed on
the NB and/or EDUCAN
