21ST TECHNOLOGY BASED ART

What is Technology-based art?

- Technology-based artist essentially computer-generated and/or manipulated.
- Through the centuries, visual artists used actual brushes and palettes, and a whole
array of paints, inks, and natural pigments applied to paper, canvas, fabric, walls
and ceilings. Today’scomputer artists employ the ever-expanding powers of image
manipulation programs and applications to create their works which can appear in
an entire range of media—whether as a physical output or a virtual experience.

COMPUTER DIGITAL ART

- make use of electronic and mechanical devices, rather than the artist’s own hand, to produce the
desired images and effects. Thus, these are definitely technology-based art forms.
- -Mobile phone (photos/Videos)
- Digital Photography
- Digital Painting
- Computer Generated Images
- Videos (TV and Film)

1. MOBILE PHONE ART

- The mobile phone that you constantly hold has evolved from a mere
communication tool, into a creative device device that allows you to
generate original works of art for an entire range of purposes.
- These could be personal photographs and videos that you can manipulate with a
myriad special effects, both visual as well as sound and music.
- They could also be school projects or reports that require you to combine images,
incorporate text, even include simple animation.

The following are the image manipulation program and applications that run on today’s android
devices:

1. PIXLR- – a powerful, free online image editor

2. PIC COLLAGE- allows you to make collages incorporating photos, stickers, text,
and frames
3. PHOTO GRID - a downloadable application for android phones that allows you to
make collages out of images from your photo gallery.
4. DOODLE BOOH - an iPad application (with a free downloadable version) that
enables you to ‘doodle’ on your images using available stickers.
5. FLIPAGRAM– a downloadable application that allows you to ‘bring your photos
to life’ in short videos set to music of your choice
6. INSTAGRAM– a fast and fun way to share images with others; snap a photo,
choose from among the available filters, and share via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr,
and more.

A. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
- Is recording the image using a digitl camera or device with a built-in camera, like
your mobile phone, android device, or tablet.
- Plus, it allows the user to immediately review the photos taken without waiting for a
complex developing process—and to delete any unsatisfactory images while storing
the good ones for future needs.

The following are the techniques and Elements of Photography :

1. texture refers to the visual quality of the surface of an object, revealed through variances in
shape, tone and color depth.
• Texture brings life and vibrancy to images that would otherwise appear flat and
uninspiring.

2. SYMMETRY refers to a line that splits an object in half and, if both sides of the
object are an exact mirror image of each other, then this object is said to
be symmetrical.
3. Pattern Photography utilizes elements that are repeated.
The repetition of lines, shapes, tones or color can create interesting images.
4. depth of field is the distance between the nearest and the farthest objects that are in
acceptably sharp focus in an image.
- The depth of field can be calculated based on focal length, distance to subject, the
acceptable circle of confusion size, and aperture.
5. ILLUSION OR CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY is an impression of a visible object
or phenomenon that is not appropriate to reality,
- Today, such an optical illusion is specially or purposefully photographed to make us
take a closer look at the photograph.
6. MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY, is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small
subjects and living organisms like insects, in which the size of the subject in the
photograph is greater than life size.
