Task

Create a 30 second Machinima of your character in standard definition and DVD aspect ratio that tells us
something about who they are and their personality. You will be required to back up your Machinima with
a storyboard outlining camera shots and scenes and a script that details character action/effects and
dialogue.

Assessment Criteria

Students will be assessed on how well they:

• Use a range of compositional and technical devices in capturing footage where
subject matter and visual conventions are explored (refers to P1, P3)
• Apply a developing awareness of the conceptual framework to the making of an
artwork in which the student is subject as well as artist and audience (implied
through the device of the students virtual avatar) (refers to P2 and P4)
• Employ appropriation with an understanding of how it may be used as a
postmodern device to interrogate an image and alter its meaning (refers to P5)
• Produce a work that creates viewer empathy (supported by a storyboard and script) that coherently
express ideas about allegory and identity (refers to P2, P6)
