Describe:

a. Subject area/s where the bulletin boards are relevant or useful

The bulletin boards posted in the classroom I am assigned is based on the
monthly theme given by the DepEd in the calendar of Activities. The teacher
also displays bulletin board where timely news and informations about the
students achievements and commitments in the classroom.

b. The kind of materials used in making the bulletin boards

The teacher uses materials that are convenient and is available in the stores
in such location. The teacher is very particular with the neatness and
harmonies of the styles she should apply in the bulletin. Printed materials
and cut-out pictures are dominant.
c. Combination of colors used in bulletin boards
The teacher’s use of color for her bulletin board in based on the entire motif
of her classroom. She uses color green in making borders because it is the
what her over-all classroom color is.

d. Accuracy of information represented by the bulletin board displays

From time-to-time the teacher actively updated the content of the bulletin
board. I can say that she accurately placed all the informations needed by
her students.

e. Impact of bulletin board displays

I have observed that the bulletin board is indeed a great tool to inform the
students about the latest updates from the SG, principal, teachers and even
from the classroom leaders. It is also helpful to minimize the time of the
teacher in giving announcements vocally.

INTERVIEWING TEACHERS ON THE ART OF DESIGNING BULLETIN BOARD

DISPLAYS

Interview a classroom teacher. Ask questions on how to set up bulletin board

displays for different instructional purposes. Take note of the responses of the teacher on
how to set up bulletin board displays for different purposes.

Steps on How to Set-up a Bulletin Board

1. Your bulletin board is a canvas on which you can mention all classroom activities or ideas
in a creative and aesthetic manner.
2. Use as many colours as you want and experiment with the cuts.
3. You may start off with a subject and concentrate on it.
4. Prepare the necessary art materials.
5. Organize and plan what you want to post in your board and consider all the subjects.
6. Consult the DepEd Memorandum for the Lessons allotted for specific month to avoid
misleading.

Observe the common areas of the school (e.g lobby) and a classroom/s. Take note of
the following:

a. Number of bulletin board displays in the common areas in school/in the classroom.

In every corner or department of the school area has its own bulletin board
especially near the registrar’s office and in the science classrooms. As I
have observed, there were 3 bulletin boards in the school and only 1 in the
classroom but its size is enough to provide informations for the students.
b. Type of materials the bulletin board displays are made of in these areas.

The most common materials used in the areas stated are printed materials
only. They used Microsoft Publisher in order to make the display readable
and on its accurate size. Other boards were borded with paintings.

c. Is the content of the bulletin board displays specific to a particular subject?

Yes. In fact each subject teacher handling different subjects are obliged to
post what is needed in their subject such as information about the school
activities, teacher’s activities and community involvement of the school.

d. Is the content of the bulletin board about general information?

Yes. The content of the bulletin board is about the general information.
Aside from the fact the it maximizes space, general information can also
be convenient for the student’s better understanding about what is posted.

e. Did you note similarities and differences in the bulletin board displays in common areas
and classrooms along the following:
 Purpose of the bulletin board displays

The purpose of the bulletin board is to provide the students timely and
relevant informations by just going the the place where bulletin boards
are situated. It is also made sure that it will be placed somewhere the
students could see it from time-to-time.
 Frequency by which bulletin board displays are changed or made current

The bulletin boards are change or updated for atleast once a a month
or if not, once every twon months depending on the availability of the
Student’s Government Officers because they were the one assigned to
changed the bulletin board contents.

IDENTIFICATION

DETERMINING INDICATORS OF EFFECTIVE BULLETIN BOARD

DISPLAYS

Observe more than two classes in any subject. Describe or take note of the following:

a. Indicators on the actual purposes of the bulletin board displays.

Class 1 Class 2

 To inform
 To update students with their tasks  To inform
and responsibilities inside the  To promote patriotism by posting
classroom. pictures and quotations about
loving the country.

b. Frequency by which bulletin board displays are referred to in any part of the lesson
by the teacher.
Class 1 Class 2

 Depending on what values and  Displays are changed according to

activities the DepEd has planned the lessons from the book. After
for the saide month. discussing the Lesson 1, display
board will also be updated
relating to what’s inside Lesson 2.

c. Kind of responses of the pupils/students when teacher makes reference to the

bulletin board.

Class 1 Class 2

 The students are very active in

asking questions relating to what is  In the other section, students
posted. doesn’t even care what is being
posted. They were more particular
with the pictures and school
activities.

INTERNALIZATION

Planning for development and setting up of bulletin board displays

If you are to put up a bulletin board display in your own classroom in the future,

1. What are the steps to be followed to ensure an effective and efficient way of
developing bulletin board displays.

 The first step to consider in ensuring effective and efficient way

of developing bulletin board displays is the interest of the
students and the DepEd’s calendar of activities.
 Refer to the book on what to display
 Benchmark from other schools or classrooms to improve your
own.
 Observe clarity, organization and neatness in making your
bulletin board.

2. What are the things to be displayed in an ideal bulletin board?

An ideal bulletin board must contain timely news and

information. It must be neat and must have proper color
combinations to attract readers and to relate it from the
theme you wanted to portray. It should also contain pictures
to give readers better understanding on what you are trying
to show in your display.

LEARNING EXPERIENCE 2: Using Internet and Computer-Driven Instructional Materials

s
EXPOSURE

CLASSIFYING INTERNET AND COMPUTER-DRIVEN INSTRUCTIONAL

MATERIALS

Go to school library, educational Media center (MC) or Learning Resource Center

(LRC) in your school/or a nearby school. List down all internet and computer-driven items
which you think are materials that facilitate learning; or materials which the teacher can use
to make student learning more fun, enjoyable, or effective. Choose, classify, and name these
materials according to the following:

a. Hardware (e.g. computer-connected/ not connected to internet, speakers, etc.)

 Curriculum guide
 Printed Lesson Plans
 Magazines, latest newspaper
 Pamphlets
 flyers

b. Software (e.g. disks, USB’s containing lessons)

 Softcopy of curriculum and teacher’s guide
 Educational Applications
 Powerpoint presentations each subject matter
 Online Library
 Hard drive loaded with lessons

c. Models (moving, not static)

 The Solar System Model
 DNA Model
 The Skeletal System Model
 Parts of the Computer Model

d. Laboratory equipment

 Funnel
 Microscope
 Telescope
 Stirring rod
 Thermometer

e. Robotics
 List down computer-driven materials and their corresponding characteristics

Computer-Driven Materials Characteristics

 Computer-aided Instruction  It is a type of Instructional Material

Material (CAI) where students interact with the
discussion through manipulating a
computer. In this material, teacher
only serves as a guide.
 Prezi  Prezi is a presentation tool that can
be used as an alternative to
traditional slide making programs
such as PowerPoint. Instead of
slides, Prezi makes use of one large
canvas that allows you to pan and
zoom to various parts of the canvas
and emphasize the ideas presented
there.
 Powerpoint Presentation  a software package designed to
create electronic presentations
consisting of a series of separate
pages or slides. Teacher uses PPT to
present lessons through computer to
be projected in an LCD projector

PARTICIPATION

Identifying the significant features of computer-driven instructional materials

 Describe and compare the feature and characteristics of computer-driven instructional

materials with those of other instructional materials (e.g. bulletin boards, posters, models
etc.) in terms of the following: Capability to enhance learning, availability and
accessibility, ease in developing the material etc.
Computer-driven Instructional Materials are the modern way of sharing
lessons to your students. It allows teachers to interact with his/her students by
the aid of technologies where students are more likely to enjoy in this
generation. Unlike the traiditional instructional materials such as m=bulletin
boards, posters and other printed materials, computer-driven IMs not that
time-consuming. Its advance and additional features attracts students to listen
to your discussion. Traditional IMs seem to look boring for them which makes
them passive and less interactive.
 Based on your readings and observations, do you think/believe that there is one
classification or type of instructional resource that is best or better over the other/s?
Yes__. No_/_. Give your reasons for your purpose.
Technically speaking, teachers itself are the best instructional material.
Printed or computer-aided Instructional materials are just tools that help
teachers to do his/her function accurately and organized. For me, there is no
best IM between the two because it is still up to the teacher’s strategy and
techniques on how he/she is going to deliver his/her lesson effectively.
Printed or not, it can still be effective.

IDENTIFICATION
Integrating technology in teaching

What hardware did the teacher engage in to be able to use, or “open” the software?
At what part of the lesson was the software used? Observe the length of time that the
students were allowed to actually use the software. Describe their responses/ behavior
toward the material.

new features seen in
the Powerpoint

What behaviors were exhibited by the students while using the computer and
software? Describe their behaviors or responses.

Students became active participants of the discussion. They obviously showed

attentive behavior and they become more competitive and made learning fun and
exciting. In fact, they always wanted to be called to answer the question being
thrown.
What insights or conclusions can your make about the students’ responses and
behaviors while using the hardware?

In using the hardware, such as printed materials, magazines or anything out of the
manipulation of the computer I can say that there’s really a great difference with
their response while using a software. In using the hardware, activities seem to be
cliché to them and that each part of the lesson is predictable. They become less
participative throughout the discussion.

Based on your observations, what would make for the “best” instructional material
that will improve teaching and learning processes? Give your reasons.

For me, software could be a best instructional especially students in this new
generation. They are already exposed with the technologies and it became part of
their day-to-day living that is why, in school they also learn best when a lesson is
aided with technology. The video to be presented regarding the lesson will give
them better understanding than by just depending on the textual information in the
book. It also makes a discussion interactive.

INTERNALIZATION

PLANNING FOR THE INTEGRATION OF THE USE OF EDUCATION

TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING

When you become a teacher, what will you do to ensure that there is wide and
varied range of educational technology instructional materials available for use?

As a teacher, I have to make sure that my students are

exposed with the varied educational technology materials since
it is where they enjoy and learn best. On the other hand, it is not
applicable in all time considering the location and status of the
students where you will be assigned for position. But this should
not be a hindrance for you to deliver your purpose. As a teacher,
I will use all my capacity and connections to provide my
students the facilities they needed. If ever I need to spend my
own savings, I will do it for my students. I can also ask for
solicitations and help from the government and private sectors
for funding. It may be a long process but It will be all worth-it.
When you become a teacher, what will you do to ensure that you will use
technology materials appropriately?

To ensure that I will use the technology materials

appropriately, I need to be an open-minded teacher. I
have to accept the fact that in the field of teaching, no one
is dominant unless he/she has undergone trainings and
seminars on how to use technology materials. Therefore,
I will attend seminars and trainings to educate myself on
how to enhance my teaching. I will also try to benchmark
with the other teachers on how they use it and by being
open to suggestions that the google could offer.

DISSEMINATION

DEVELOPING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION USING EDUCATIONAL

TECHNOLOGIES

Develop a Powerpoint presentation of various educational technologies and how and

where these could be appropriately used.
Share with your peers the powerpoint presentation you have made and discuss on
its usefulness and write down the results of your discussion inside the box.
