Gender and Development Seminar
December 7-8, 2019

LAS PINAS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL – GATCHALIAN ANNEX FACULTY

Las Pinas National High School – Gatchalian Annex held the Gender

and Development Seminar for teachers in compliance to the DepEd Order

No. 3. s. 2017: Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy which seeks to

integrate the principle of gender equality, gender equity, gender sensitivity

and human rights in the delivery of quality education for all.


Dr. Caviles on her Welcome Remarks

The Gender and Development Seminar was held on December 7-8,

2019 at Hoyoland Eco-tropical Resort in Silang, Cavite. It started with the

registration of teachers and non-teaching staff around 8 in the morning. The

program started by the emcee, Mrs. Shallimar Fan with the Prayer followed by

the singing of the National Anthem guided by the prepared audio-video

presentation. Dr. Gemma C. Caviles, Head Teacher IV and OIC-Principal of

Las Pinas National High School-Gatchalian Annex expressed her warmest

welcome to the teachers and non-teaching staff.


For the first topic, Mr. Mark David Reyes, discussed about the invaluable

Health and Well-Being of Teachers and the keys to its development and

preservation. To internalize the important points in presenting oneself to others

and building healthy relationship with oneself and others, the teachers

engaged in a collaborative and creative activity—Picture-Perfect where

they signified in silent actions the given iconic scenarios.

The second topic followed was brought about by Mrs. Andrelyn Diaz

who discussed the Mental Health Awareness and the Mental Health First Aid.

The teachers were informed of the nature and importance of Mental Health

Awareness as well as the first aid tips in the management and prevention of

mental illnesses.

The awarding of certificates was led by Dr. Gemma Caviles, OIC-

Principal, Mr. James Manansala, Faculty President and Andrelyn Diaz, GAD

Coordinator.

In the closing remarks, Mrs. Diaz urged the teachers to be the beacon

of inspiration and example to the students in the positive handling of life

challenges and transform them into meaningful life learning as what the Lord

intends for us.

The program ended with a grand toast for the healthy relationship of

the teachers to the stakeholders of the school as well as the success in the

future endeavors of the students, teachers and the school.
