August:
5th, Community Shield:

City kicks off their season with the Community Shield v

Chelsea. With this being the New Chelsea boss
Maurizio Sarri first game in Charge, Man City set out
strong not knowing what tactics Chelsea will use vs the
Champions. ( Me – Although this is more or less a Pre
Season Game its also not a Game you really want to
lose ) – (Marty)

Peps men takes the lead with Sergio Aguero opening

the scoring in the 13th minute, then grabbing a brace in
the 58th minute to seal the win.

doubles Citys lead with a fine finish from a calm an
composed low driving pass by Benjamin Mendy.

them face all three of the newly-promoted clubs in the

30th- Champions League Draw

Footage of Draw
(Me- With getting Shaktar Donetsk for the 2nd season
in a row in the group stages its quite something, we
beat them at home and lost away to them the previous
season so at the time I was hoping we could do the
double on them that season.
Lyon had a fantastic team with the likes of Fekir ,
Depay and a lot of young talent its wasn’t gonna be
easy.
Hoffenheim is a decent opponent, nothing special.
But I did expect city to top the group.
September
1st & 15th – Home v Newcastle & Fulham

With City dropping 2 point vs wolves, all 3 points are

grabbed in both Back to Back Home games vs
Newcastle and promoted Fulham.

19th – Home v Lyon (1st Champions league Group Stage

game)

The first Champions league group stage match kicked off at

the Etihad against Lyon. The home team almost went in front
when Aymeric Laporte struck the post with a header from an
acute angle having got on the end of Ilkay Gundogan's cross,
but that was as good as it got for City as Lyon began to put
their hosts under pressure at the other end. A move from the
back almost led to Sterling giving City the lead, but one
minute later Lyon went ahead when a cross from the left was
not dealt with by Fabian Delph and Cornet sent a half-volley
into the bottom corner from a tight angle. City were showing
signs of improvement, but Lyon doubled their advantage two
minutes before half time when Fekir was given the space to
run towards goal and the France international took his time
before drilling a low strike into the bottom corner from 20
yards out. City finally found their goal with a quarter of the
match remaining when substitute Leroy Sane took the ball
around a defender before teeing up Bernardo, who found the
far bottom corner from 12 yards. Aguero almost equalised in
the final minute of normal time with the Argentine seeing a
shot tipped over the crossbar by the excellent Lopes, but that
proved to be the final chance to leave City with work to do in
order to get their European campaign back on track.

22nd, 25th, 29th September / 2nd October:

After the defeat city went on to win their next 4 games with a
trashing at Cardiff, a 3rd Round Efl cup win over Oxford, a
comfortable win over Brighton and a tough 2nd champions
league group stage match win in Germany.

7th October

(ME- For me this was a scary one, Anfield is one of the best
stadiums for Atmosphere and to play in it for a player, I say
its hard, We haven’t beating Liverpool at Anfield in Premier
league)

The Reds, boasting a formidable home record that had seen

them brush aside all comers to visit here this season without
conceding, started the match on top.
Mohamed Salah's dragged shot from a promising position
five minutes in offered hope of an end-to-end match, but the
first half did not quite pan out that way.
Man City grew into the game and ended the first half slightly
on top, but they were unable to turn possession into
chances.
The Citizens' best moment came a quarter of the way into
the match when Sergio Aguero was caught from behind by
Lovren in the box, but referee Martin Atkinson decided
against pointing to the spot on this occasion.
A mistimed Virgil van Dijk challenge on substitute Leroy
Sane presented the Citizens with a chance to snatch all three
points in the final five minutes, only for Mahrez to take the
ball from Jesus then to blaze the ball over the crossbar.
11th November

Odhran Doc:

(Me: Derby Day is always the game you look for

straight away when the fixtures come out. United were
9 points behind City and City were on fire so I had no
doubt that we would grab all 3 points.)
27th November Champions League 2nd last gs game

City Travel to Lyon, only needing a point to secure a

Champions League Spot.
