CHAPTER – 2
POLYNOMIALS
1. Find a quadratic polynomials whose zeroes are -3 and 2.(1 M)
3. Find the zeroes of 4√3x2 +5x-2√3 and verify the relation between the zeroes and the
coefficients of the polynomial. (3 M)
4. Find all the zeroes of 2x4–3x3-3x2+6x+2, if you know that two of its zeroes are 2 and -
2. (4M)
CHAPTER – 6 TRIANGLES
1. ABC and BDE are two equilaterals such that D is the mid-point of BC. Find the ratio of
the areas of triangles ABC and BDE. (1M)
2. In ∆ABC, ∠BAC = 90º and AD⊥BC . prove that : AB2 +CD2 = BD2+AC2. (2M)
3. P and Q are the mid-points of the sides CA and CB respectively of ∆ABC right angled at
C. prove that 4(AQ2+BP2)= 5AB2 (3M)
4. Prove that the ratio of the areas of two similar triangles is equal to the square of the ratio
of their corresponding sides. (4 M)
1. If the ratio of the length of a pole and its shadow is 1:1, then find the angle of elevation.
(1M)
2. A 1.6 m tall girl stands at a distance of 3.2 m from a lamp post and casts shadow of 4.8
m on the ground. What is the height of lamp post? (2M)
3. The angles of elevation of the top of a tower from two points at a distance of ‘a’ and
‘b’ from the base and in the same straight line with it are complementary. Prove that
the height of the tower is √ab. (3M)
4. There is a small island in the middle of a 100 m wide river and a tall tree stands on the
island. P and Q are points directly opposite to each other on two banks and in line with
the tree. If the angles of elevation of the top of the tree from P and Q are respectively
30º and 45º, find the height of the tree. (4M)
CHAPTER-14 STATISTICS
1. If ∑ fi =11 and ∑ fi xi =2p + 32 and the mean of any distribution is 6, find the value of p.
(1M)
2. If the mean of the following distributions is 6 ,find the value of p. (2M)
X 2 4 6 10 P+2
y 3 2 3 1 2
3.If the median of the distribution given below is 28.5 , find the value of x and y (3M)
Draw a less than type Ogive for the given data and find the median distance thrown
using this curve. (4M)
CHAPTER 15- PROBABILITY
1. A letter is chosen at random from the letter of the “word PROBABILITY”. Find the
probability that it is not a vowel. (1M)
2. A bag contains 24 marbles, some of which are green and others are blue. A marble is drawn
at random from the bag. If the probability that it is green is 2/3 , then find the number of
the blue marbles in the bag. (2M)
3. Three unbiased coins are tossed together. What is the probability of getting: (3M)
(a) Two heads
(b) At least two heads
(c) At most two heads
4. A child’s game has 8 triangles of which 3 are blue and the rest are red, and 10 squares of
which 6 are blue and the rest are red. Find the probability of getting: (4M)
(a) Triangle
(b) Square
(c) Square of blue color
(d) Triangle of red color
