”THE THEME OF THINKING + DEFINING + CREATING = INNOVATION”

INNOVATION - In its modern meaning "a new idea, creative thoughts, new

imaginations in form of device or method". Its vital role - in terms of business - is

creating more effective processes, products, and ideas. For a business, it could

mean implementing new ideas, improving services or creating dynamic products.

Innovation act as a catalyst that can make your business grow and can help you

adapt in the marketplace. In connection with that, the “Art of Innovation” by Guy

Kawasaki discuss important details which is legit, relevant, and significant to

everyone nowadays.

“The Art of Innovation,” featured 10 tips that Manage Service Providers can

use to improve their businesses namely (1) Make meaning, (2) Make a mantra, (3)

Jump to the next curve, (4) Roll the DICEE, (5) Don’t worry, be crappy, (6) Let 100

flowers blossom, (7) Polarize people, (8) Churn baby, churn, (9) Niche thyself,

and last (10) Perfect your pitch.

In further explanation, MAKE MEANING - Kawasaki noted that “Successful

companies want to make meaning,” Kawasaki said. “I believe that if you try to

make meaning, you’ll also make money”. It states here that if your business only

runs for money then it has no meaning at all. The company is for money making

only and it does not concern and meet the “wants and needs” of the customers.

MAKE A MANTRA - this is your 2-3 tagline where it can be easily remembered or

recite by your employee. For instance, “Hari ng Padala” is for LBCwhich is easy to

think that this company is for shipping and “Love ko to’” by Mcdo. It is very
effective to have this mantra which is easy to recognize and remember. JUMP TO

THE NEXT CURVE - In this aspect, it is important to think about your company

and think about the benefits that you provide to the consumers/customers. The

benefits your company do to your customer is what makes them loyal to you and

they give their trust and loyalty to your product/service because they are all

benefitting. ROLL THE DICEE - As a Managed Service Providers, always

remember the word DICEE which stands for Deep, Intelligent, Complete,

Empowering, and Elegant because it can offer value to its customers and stay

ahead of its rivals. In making decisions, DICEE can save your company and will

serve more efficiently to your customer. DON’T WORRY, BE CRAPPY - Failure is

inevitable. But the fact that your company experienced failure, it does not mean

that a company will stop. It is a turning point for innovation and since failure is

there, there will always be room for improvement. Don’t lose hope and do not

seek perfection. LET 100 FLOWERS BLOOM - He pointed out a company that

releases a product/service could have a target audience. So, always remember

that know your audience or target. Do not always make an unnecessary move

that will cost you a lot. Be wise in releasing products sometimes the customers

are too much for you and it can be used against you. Next is, POLARIZE

PEOPLE - As a company, your product/service serve as a center of gravity that

attracts people. Customers are attracted because they love your products. And I

totally agree with what he said , “Great products polarize people. Some people will

love it, some people will despise it, and that’s ok. What you need to worry about is

if people don’t care”. CHURN BABY, CHURN - Feedbacks are all important in the
business industry. It is valuable information that will be used to make important

decisions. Most likely, top performing companies are top performing companies

because they consistently search for ways to make their best even better. NICHE

THYSELF - In your company, think about your service/product whether it is

unique and provide value to their customers. In terms of uniqueness, they will

always buy your product because your company is the only one offers a

service/product which is important to them in their daily life activity. And lastly,

PERFECT YOUR PITCH - Kawasaki mentioned “Great innovators have to be

able to convince people with pitches, speeches and presentations,”. By

convincing your customer, communication is there which is significant in any

sector or field of business. Without conviction by your valued customers, you will

not be successful in your business. It means that a company does not meet the

expectation of the customer.

To sum it up all, for a business/company to be successful, the “Art of

Innovation” since it can help you to build a better providing business company

which has a characteristics of open-mindedness and willing to accept flaws and

turning it to strength of the company to serve and provide products/services for

customers.
