1. About RestoreIT

RestoreIT is an innovative real-time system restoration utility. RestoreIT cont
inually monitors and keeps a complete record of all activities on the hard drive
. RestoreIT lets you recover lost data or restore an individual file after a sy
stem crash, virus attack, faulty software installation, accidental file deletion
or unintentional formatting of the hard disk. All you have to do is select a B
ackup Point and all of the contents of your hard disk can be quickly restored ba
ck to a point when your computer was functioning properly. RestoreIT also allows
you to back up and restore previous versions of a specific file after it has be
en deleted, changed or overwritten, without doing an entire disk rollback.

2. System Requirements

CPU: Intel Pentium 133(or other compatible CPU) or higher
RAM: 64MB or better; 128MB for 128G HDD
HDD Space: 420 MB of free space to install the RestoreIT program
and create the RestoreIT partition.
OS Support: Windows 98 SE/ME/2000 (SP3)/XP Home and Professional
*Please do not install RestoreIT on Unix or Linux.

3. Notes

Pre-installation
*****************************
1. Close all applications that are currently running.
2. Disable all antivirus protection, from Windows* and BIOS
 (please re-enable after RestoreIT is installed.)
3. If a previous version of RestoreIT is already installed on your system, pleas
e uninstall the previous version first.
4. Run Windows* Scandisk to verify the hard drive integrity.
5. Run Windows* Disk Defragmenter to compact the free space on your hard disk.
6. Uninstall other data backup/protection software, such as Goback, Recovery Gen
ius, TrueImage, Acronis Disk Editor, PC Angel, etc.
Operating System Compatibility and Upgrading

1. RestoreIT is compatible with the following versions of Windows:
Windows 98 SE/ME/2000 (SP3)/XP Home and Professional
2. Please do not install RestoreIT on an operating system that is not listed abo
ve. RestoreIT is not compatible with UNIX, Linux or MAC.
3. Some advanced implementation, such as multiple processors support, volume set
s, dynamic disks, and striping, of Windows* are NOT compatible with RestoreIT.
4. Prior to upgrading or reinstalling the operating system, RestoreIT needs to b
e uninstalled. After the upgrade or installation, please install RestoreIT agai
n.

Multi-booting
=========================
Multi-booting is only supported for the following configuration:
1.The Microsoft supplied boot manager is the only boot manager.
2.RestoreIT must be installed once for each operating system, disabling (not uni
nstalling) RestoreIT between installs.
For complete information on installing RestoreIT on a multi-boot system, please
refer to RestoreIT's online help.

Windows Me and Windows XP

=========================
RestoreIT is compatible with the Windows System Restore feature in Windows Me an
d Windows XP.
When RestoreIT is installed on Windows Me and Windows XP systems, the built-in W
indows System Restore will NOT be disabled.

Disk Compression Utilities

=========================
RestoreIT is fully compatible with NTFS compression built into Windows NT, Windo
ws 2000 and Windows XP.
RestoreIT is also compatible with file-level compression mechanisms such as PKZI
P, WINZIP, and ARJ.

5. Function Limitations

File-level Back up/Restore
*****************************
1. If any NTFS partition exists, the file restore function is unavailable on eit
her Windows 98/Me or Windows 2000/XP multi-system.
2. In NTFS partition, the Advance attribute of a file will be cleared after it i
s restored.
3. Some applications will create a temporary copy for an editing file, and then
rename the temporary copy and save it. RestoreIT will not protect a file saving
in such way. (Except Office files)
4. If a file is renamed, you cannot find previous versions of this file that exi
sted before it was renamed by right-clicking this file in Windows Explorer.
5. RestoreIT cannot restore a file that was in a formatted partition.You can fir
st restore the partition using an Incremental Backup Point or a Complete Backup
Point created before that partition was formatted.
6. RestoreIT cannot back up files deleted by *.* or *.doc on windows 98/Me MS-DO
S. Note: Incremental Backup Points can back up such operations.
7. RestoreIT will create a backup version as long as a file is modified, overwr
itten or deleted, so it is possible to backup a infected file. But if the file i
s intact when the backup version is created, it will not be infected by virus.

Others
*****************************
1. RestoreIT can only protect the first (primary) hard drive.
2. Users can only restore the C drive or the entire HDD.
3. RestoreIT cannot be installed on a disk with 4 MBR entries.
4. RestoreIT partition can only be created from the primary partition, the last
extent partition or unallocated space.
5. RestoreIT needs to be reinstalled after upgrading or reinstalling of the oper
ating system.
6. RestoreIT cannot be installed on computers with other similar types of recove
ry software.
7. Not compatible with Ghost2003.
8. Not support System Commander.
9. Not compatible with other data backup/protection software, such as Goback, Re
covery Genius,
TrueImage, Acronis Disk Editor, PC Angel, etc.
10. Does not support RAID 1 and higher.
