I. OBJECTIVES

Towards the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

A. Classify sentences according to their uses.


B. Construct declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences.
C. Read sentences correctly and clearly with expressions.
D. Show teamwork and cooperation through participating in a group activity.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TOPIC: Different types of Sentence according to structure.

a. Group Work. Identify the kind of expressions or emotion in the following


sentences.

1. Catriona Gray is the fourth Filipina to win the Miss Universe competition.
2. When did you fall in love?
3. Shut your mouth.
4. I can’t believe it! We passed in the exam!
5. How to go from Mangahan to Rosario,Cavite?
6. Meet me in the plaza at 3 p.m.
7. Why are you standing there at the back?
8. Clean your room before you leave?
9. Quick! There’s a bomb!
10. I love black.

b. There are banners in each corner of the room, students choose a corner to
stand at. Teacher reads a sentence. If students think it is the sentence where
they are standing (corner), they sit down. If students are wrong they are out of
the game. Students who are correct get a reward.

Analyze
a. Introduce the four types of sentences.

DECLARATIVE SENTENCE states a fact or opinion and ends with a period

INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE asks a question and ends with a question mark.

IMPERATIVE SENTENCE expresses a request or gives a command or


direction. It also and ends with a period or exclamation mark.

EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE conveys emotion and ends with an exclamation


mark.

b. From the given definitions, let the students reflect from their initial activity.
Ask them which sentence is appropriate to its different kinds.
c. Ask the students to give an example sentence for declarative, imperative,
interrogative and exclamatory.
d. How do these four types of sentences differ from one another?

Activity 2. Directions: Listen to the teacher carefully and identify the function of
the sentence. Write Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative and Exclamatory.
