At the end of the cycle, the students should be able to identify the key parts of the
breathing system.
ELICIT (3 minutes) ICT Materials
The teacher will show pictures of an athlete doing an LCD
activity. Projector images
Ex. Manny Pacquiao, Lydia De Vega

ENGAGE ( 5 minutes)
Ask the students:
1. Why do you think these athletes became famous and successful?
EXPLORE ( 40 minutes)
1. Do activity entitled “ What A Bunch of Grapes” model Bunch of grapes or

2. Answer the following guide questions: fruits
a. What does each part of the bunch of grapes model
represent?
b. How will you describe the pathway of oxygen in the
breathing system?
c. What will happen if one part of the system fails to carry

EXPLAIN ( 30 minutes)
1. Let the representative of each group present their Output
output/observation.
2. Answer the questions in the activity.
a. What does each part of the bunch of grapes model
represent in relation to the breathing system?
b. How will you describe the pathway of oxygen in the
breathing system?
c. What will happen if one part of the systwm fails to carry
out its function properly?

ELABORATE ( 20 minutes) ICT


The teacher will process the data presented by the
students through a class interaction.
The teacher will be guided by the following concepts:
 Nose
 Trachea
 Bronchi
 Bronchioles
 Alveoli
EVALUATE ( 10 minutes)
Refer to the diagram, and check your understanding of Diagram
the breathing system by labelling each part and giving its
functions in the box corresponding to the part

EXTEND (10 minutes)


Check your understanding of all parts
of the breathing system.
