Unit 5: Inventions lesson 5b: Technology and me
Goals: Talk about your own application, technology device or robot.
Warm up: they are going to ask about what they can do and show it
Transition: Teacher will ask students to write what devices they have, and then they will complete exercise 3
on page 60.
Activity 1: then students will look at the photo on page 60, and then they will describe what an invention can
do for them, and if they consider only technology is an invention or it could be other thing like a new genre of
music, a new strategy in business, a new compound in chemistry, etc.
Transition: Teacher will ask students to listen to read aloud the paragraphs of solar ovens on page 63, and
then they will complete exercises 2 and 3 on page 62.
Activity 2: students will read the lecture on page 63, and then they will answer exercises 2 and 3 on page 62
and describe what an invention can do for them, and if they consider only technology is an invention or it
could be other thing like a new genre of music, a new strategy in business, a new compound in chemistry, etc.
Transition: Teacher will ask students if they remember how to create sentences and questions with can,
students will elicit the affirmative and negative form of the sentences with can using the images on pages 154
and 158 then teacher will remind them how to pronounce can and can’t and finally, ask if they think that they
describe the different features of microwave ovens.
Activity 3: students will take turns to ask each other about features of their different features of their
microwave ovens, then they will make a role play whether they will be clients and customers. In that
conversation, they will offer their helps to describe the products.
Transition: Teacher will tell student that they are going to discuss about their favorite technology gadgets
Activity 4: students will be in groups of 3 or 2, teacher will tell them that one group will ask the yes or no
question to the group that is in front of them in a Zig zag way about what features can their favorite gadgets
performance?
Transition: teacher will play a video and they will create their own questions for their favorite robots.
Activity 5: teacher will tell students that they will practice more questions with the video about different
robots.
Transition: Teacher will tell student that they are going to read a lecture about i-watch, then they will answer
some questions about it.
Activity 6 (wrap up): students will talk about their ideas about the i-watch in groups of three and then one
member of the group will tell about the other groups about it, after each group will create questions about
their gadgets and after asking to their partners. Finally, teacher will collect their pieces of papers.
Homework: Teacher will ask students to do the review in the workbook.
