Hello,

Checking to see if CPD has received the results back from the state testing of the device found in the possession of
Robert Jamal Pryor for an article I am working on. Has it been determined what the device was? Was it explosive?

Thanks very much,

UPDATE ON SYCAMORE STREET TRAFFIC STOP

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA- In response to recent media inquiries regarding the

suspicious device from the traffic stop on Sycamore Street, the following update is
being provided.

The Charlottesville Police Department sent the below device to the state lab for analysis.

Based on the pipe-bomb design of the pressurized device, inaccurately characterized as an

“air pump,” and the circumstances surrounding the encounter, CPD Officers and VSP
responded appropriately by containing and then disrupting the device.

Thanks, Tyler,

Might you send out a quick email prior to a briefing such as this? We don't have personnel to stake out a scene all day
and such would be extremely helpful.
Thanks.

Jay

Hey Tyler! Good morning :)

Are there any more details about what’s going on Sycamore/Locust/Poplar? I saw the tweets went out
about the streets being closed and I’ve let our reporters know about them (since I’m the only one in the
newsroom so far this am hah).

Anything we need to know/should start working on just in case?

Thanks!
