2nd Coming of Christ

Two Stages:

A – The Rapture – when Jesus comes for His Saints and we meet Him in the air (1
Thes 4:15-17)

B – The Revelation – when the Lord Jesus comes with His Saints to set up the
millennium ( 1 Thes 3:13) (Rev 1:7)

- His First coming was prophesied and those prophecies came to pass literally

- It was foretold by Paul (1 Tim 6:14)

- It was foretold by the prophet Daniel (Dan 7:13-14)

- Time of Christ Return:

A – Depends on the speed or slowness of taking the Gospel to every tribe (Mat
24:14)

B – Only the Father knows (Mat 24:36, 24:50) (1 Thes 5:2)

- Purpose of Christ coming:

A – To bring light the hidden things of darkness (1 Core 4:5)

B – To Judge (2 Tim 4:1)

C – To receive us to be with Himself (John 14:3)

D – To Reign (Rev 11:15)

- Manner of His Coming:

A – In the Clouds of Heaven (Mat 24:30)

B – In the Glory of His Father (Mat 16:27)

C – In His own Glory (Mat 25:31)

D – As He ascended (In bodily form) (Acts 1:9-11)

E – With a shout and the voice of the archangel (1 Thes 4:16)

F – With His Saints (1 Thes 3:13)

G – Accompanied by the Angels (Mat 16:27)

- Signs of Christ Coming (2 Tim 3:1-7) (Mat 24:5-7, 12-39)

- Conclusion: We ought to be Ready, by living a Holy Life as if He were to return today (Mark
13:36) (Mat 24:44)
The Miracles of Christ
- Miracle

 Is the setting aside of a lower law by a higher law, the higher law being the
law of God that superseded Earth’s Laws.
 Simply an act of Divine Providence
 Example: For an Apple to Fall “up” instead of down would be a miracle, it
would be the Power of God superseding and changing the Law of Gravity
 See also (Acts 3:2-10) – A man who has never walk, but walk

- Uniqueness of Jesus Miracles:

 The Prophets including Peter and Paul performed miracles by delegated

power (From God, specifically for the task)
 But Jesus performed His miracles by His own Power to accredit His message
which manifested His Glory and to demonstrate His deity (Mat 28:18) (Mat
11:2-5)
 But at one time Jesus refused to perform a miracle to obey the Devil (Luke
4:3-4)

- Scope of Jesus Miracles

 Over Nature (Mat 8:26-27)

 Over Devils (Mark 1:23-27, 5:12-13) (Mat 8:28-32, 9:32-33, 15:22-28, 17:14-
18)
 Over Disease (Mat 8:3, 13, 15 ; 9:6-7, 20-22; 11:5 ; 12:10-13)
(Luke 13:11-13, 13:2-4, 17:17-19) (John 5:8-9)
 Over Death (John 11:43-44) (Mat 9:23-26) (Luke 7:12-15)
 Miscellaneous (John 2:1-11, 6:3-14, 15-21, 21:6) (Mat 21:18-22)

- Conclusion

o Miracles Should Lead one to Faith – let us accept the miracles of Jesus at face value
as they have been recorded in the Holy Word of God (John 12:37-38)
o There are possibilities of Miracles today – performed to accredit the messenger
(Like Paul)
