A. Introduction

Junk foods are food items that are considered to be unhealthy and have a very low nutritional

value. However, many children and teenagers enjoy consuming it, because it tastes good. These

foods are known to be factors that cause obesity. The sale of junk foods in our school canteen

should be stopped in order to make an improvement among students. Besides, it is also a reason

for the loss of concentration and energy of students to study well. Another reason why it should

be stopped is because they are mostly packaged in plastic that needs to be disposed properly.

However, there are still a lot of students who discard trashes in various places instead of

disposing it properly in trash bins.

B. Analysis of the Problem

It has been proven that malnutrition is one of the reasons why a child's academic

performance is poor. Poor health can have a significant impact on student's learning and

memory. Aside, it could also affect a child's physical growth, cognitive development, and health

especially if it gets worse. Malnutrition is one of the reasons why a student is not prepared to go

to school and learn, that's why it is one of the problems the world is facing. Hungry and

undernourished learners don’t have the energy to take on physical work and sporting activities,

actively, having a negative effect on their performance at school. According to an article,

malnutrition also leads children to have less interest in learning.

C. Explanations of the Solution

The provided information above justifies that this problem should have an impactful

solution. This proposal will be focusing on implementing the Canteen’s staffs and personnel to

produce and sell healthy foods such as foods made from vegetables and fruits that have a high

nutritional content and benefits. If the Canteen’s Management lacks money to buy those

ingredients, the school’s management should raise the funds in producing healthy recipes or

foods as the price of the recipes being sold is affordable for the students buying. And for those

students that don’t have any money to buy it; the school’s management can do a feeding program

daily that is only available for those students who can’t totally afford the said healthy recipes or

foods. Also, junk foods itself are being packaged through the use of plastics and we all know that

these plastics are harmful to the environment because it mainly affects the climate. Meanwhile,

Moonwalk National High School is one of the schools that are eco-friendly. By this, this solution

could really prove that Moonwalk National High School is eco-friendly with reducing the usage

of plastics coming from consumed junk foods.

D. Conclusion

In this way, this solution can possibly help the students struggling and suffering from low

academic performances and skills due to malnutrition and micronutrient deficiency. This solution

can help establish a good environment within the school’s facility as the students will be getting

the energy to do well with their academics and with this, it could set the students of Moonwalk

National High School to be active and competitive in school’s grounds. This solution could also

help the environment as it tries to lessen the usage of plastics within the school’s facility by just

getting rid of junk foods that have a packaging of plastics.
