1. Where is the setting of the story?
 The setting took place in America.
2. Where is the home for the daughter? How about for the mother?
 The daughter insists that her home is Hawaii and her mother’s home is the
Philippines.
3. Why was the mother determined to go home?
 The mother is determined to go because she values Philippines as her
homeland and because she filed a divorce due to his husband’s infidelities.
4. What kind of a man was the woman's husband?
 His husband has infidelities like extreme mental cruelty.
5. What is your definition of home? Why do people long for home?
 Home is where love prevails and where you can make happy memories.

Values: Life Connection

1. Note how Lucille is described in the opening paragraph. Are many of our young
girls very much like her in dress and in bearings? How do you want Filipino girls to
be?
 No. Filipino girls should be conservative because we have a conservative
culture.
2. What are the traits of the mother? Would a Filipino daughter born in the
Philippines but raised in a foreign country understand her attitude? Who do you
say so?
 The mother is a strong woman, determined and patriotic. Maybe not
because she was raised in a different country with a different culture.
3. Describe the mother and daughter relationship. Is it typical of a Filipino family?
 It is not a typical mother and daughter relationship. No, because of the
influence and the culture where the daughter grew up.
4. Do you agree that home is really where the heart is? Explain.
 Yes. Because home is where love dwells. It is where unconditional love for
family is felt.
5. Write a definition of home as you understand it from the story.
 Home is where you can find comfort just as how the mother wanted to go
to Philippines because she feels that it is the place where she belongs.
