Experiment:2

AIM: To find out phase shift of Delta/Star Transformer.

APPRATUS:
Delta Star connected 3phase
transformer Ammeter (0-10A)
Voltmeter (0-500volt)
Wattmeter (0-1200W)

THOERY

The parallel operation of transformer is largely depending upon polarity, phase

sequence and phase displacement of two transformers. In 3-phase transformer
there is inherent angular displacement between Delta voltage vector of primary
side and STAR induce voltage vector of secondary side. In figure where delta/star
transformer is shown and is supplied to rated voltage. It is to be noted star voltage
has 30degree displacement in clockwise or negative direction w.r.t delta vector of
applied voltage.

PROCEDURE:
There are number of way to find out the vector group of transformer here we will
perform practical by two methods in one method we will load the transformer and
second one by measuring the voltage only. To find out phase shift of the
transformer winding connect the circuit as shown in figure. Now to find out p.f of
the circuit we measure voltage, current and power of the circuit and then we can
have cosФ=P/(VI). Same way here phase displacement is nothing but angular
difference in between the voltage of primary and secondary side so to measure that
phase displacement we will tape the voltage reference of primary side and current
reference of secondary side and then will measure the power and substituting the
value in equation we would have phase displacement.
