General information

The gearbox control unit (TECU) inputs for rotation speed have hardware diagnosis. Short circuits and open circuits
can be detected. At frequency < 20 Hz the diagnosis in FMI 3, 5 and 6 is done. Most electrical faults give frequency = 0
(i.e. < 20). Reset takes place as soon as the fault ceases to exist.

Possible reason:

Short circuit to battery voltage in sensor circuit.

Reaction from control unit:

Fault code is set.

Yellow lamp is demanded.

Noticeable external symptom:

Yellow lamp is lit.

Uneven lock-up engagement.

Suitable check:

40032-3 Turbine rotation speed/engine rotation speed, check .

FMI 5

Abnormally low current or open circuit.

Conditions for fault code:

Open circuit in sensor circuit.

Possible reason:

Open circuit in sensor circuit.

Reaction from control unit:

Fault code is set.

Yellow lamp is demanded.

Noticeable external symptom:

Yellow lamp is lit.

Uneven lock-up engagement.

Suitable check:

40032-3 Turbine rotation speed/engine rotation speed, check .

FMI 6

Possible reason:

Short circuit to earth in sensor circuit.

Reaction from control unit:

Fault code is set.

Yellow lamp is demanded.

Noticeable external symptom:

Yellow lamp is lit.

Uneven lock-up engagement.

Suitable check:

40032-3 Turbine rotation speed/engine rotation speed, check .

FMI 8

Abnormal frequency.

Conditions for fault code:

Rotation speed exceeds 5000 rpm or outside neutral, the rotation speed is below 150 rpm for more than 1 sec
when the output rotation speed exceeds 200 rpm and engine speed exceeds 500 rpm.

Possible reason:

Sensor distance is too large.

Reaction from control unit:

Fault code is set.

Yellow lamp is demanded.

Noticeable external symptom:

Yellow lamp is lit.

Uneven lock-up engagement.
