I don’t know if you have noticed
but TV programming is getting
shorter and TV ads are getting
longer in the past few months.
I timed programming on GRIT today and found
a deplorable situation has evolved there. Programming
lasted between 6 and 7 minutes before commercials
come on. The ads are lasting between 4 and 5 minutes.
Yikes!
It used to be, back in the black and white age, that in
an hour show there was 3 minutes of commercials every
12 minutes. That changed with the advent of color, but
not to any great extent. Program was 11 minutes and
ads were 3:30 minutes.
Now, before you raise your hand to ask ‘isn’t there
a law’? I will say that the FCC has no law governing the
length of ads or the minutes of ads in relation to the

Unfortunately a district court judge denied the lawsuit,
saying Kearns lacked standing to bring suit.
That’s when my friends at the Immigration Reform
Law Institute (IRLI) stepped in to the rescue and filed
a friend of the court brief in support of Kearns’s suit.
Dale L Wilcox, executive director and general counsel
of the IRLI, stated, “It [Green Light Law] forces county
officials to conceal illegal activity from federal law
enforcement.”
Governor Cuomo and the Green Light Law states
that Kearns can be fired if he ignores the Green Light
Law and refuses to issue a driver’s license to a person he,
Kearns, knows to be an illegal alien.
The Catch-Twenty-Two of this is that Kearns could
spend some not-so quality time in a federal slammer
for harboring an illegal alien if he issues the permit to
operate a car and doesn’t notify the Feds.
In other words this stupid law (soon to be adopted
by California and Colorado) forces county officials to
break the law if they want to keep their job.
