On September 13, 1923 he married ISABEL KATHRYN LOCKWOOD and norr is the
father of 4 children. He in~erned at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis,; Mo.,
1920-21, and at the Aug~stana Hospital, Chicago, 1921-22; he a~rved as
exchange surgical assistant, Kantons Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland, 1922-

same position as he was insofar as their kr~owledge of their
sponsorship of this organization_was concerned.
Another individual who was also listed as a sponsor
of this council advised that although he favored peace between
the American and Soviet Governments, he could not agree with some
people who claimed that this country should submit to any and
all demands of the Russian Government and he added that he
believed that most of the other indivlduals who had become
sponsors of this group shared his feelings in this matter.
Information was received that as of January 3, 1946,
Dr. Ochsner 'ltas still carried as a sponsor of the new Orleans
Counc:!.l; hm~·ever, articles appearing in the "Uew Orleans States"
and other local ne\>tspapers under date of November 5, 1947, and
snbr.cquent elates, setting out a list of the current sponsors of
this organization, did not include tho name of Dr. Ochsner.
Further inquiry failed to reflect that Dr. Ochsner took part in
any of the activities of this group, other than as described
above the use of his name as a sponsor.
Confidential informants of the New Orleans Office who
are well acquainted with Communist Party membership and activities
in the New Orleans area as well as with the activities of the
Hew Orleans Council of American-·~oviet Friendship and other front
organizationst ¥ere contacted and advised they knew of no activities
on the part o~ Dr. Ochsner ~dicating disloyalty to this country.
Additional inquiry ~ealed ·that on March 2,, 1946, the "New Orleans
Item " newspaper reported that Dr. Ochsner had received a citation
for his patriotic services in connection with medical research.
On November 17, 1946, he was ~warded the Ngv Orleans "Times-
Picayune." newspaper Loving CUp for 1945 •as the New Orleans ~
citizen considered to have pertormed the greatest altruistic \
service for the community during that year,• his having been i
selected by a civic committee named by the presidents of the ·1
Association of Commerce, the Nev Orleans Cotton Exchange 1 'and the j.
New Orleans Board or Trade. Additional inquiry reflected that
Dr. Ochsner bears an excellent reputation .:lJl New Orleans as an
eminent surgeon and prominent civic leadeiJJ •In viev of the above f
an investigation or this applicant is not-being conducted under· '
Executive Order lo450 in the absence or a specific request. _
