PlugInGuru Power Pack for

Native Instruments
Massive 1.3
Thank you for purchasing this Power Pack for
Massive!! This New Version of the Power Pack
Requires Massive version 1.3 or higher – these
patches will not work with earlier versions of Massive
due to a file format change (file type is now .nmsv
instead of .ksd) introduced in Massive 1.3.
Installation
Mac OS X:
With Massive 1.3, the location of where these patches go has also changed – the
PlugInGuru Power Pack folder no longer goes into the shared content folder.
Please read below carefully so that these patches show up correctly in your “My
Massive” patch browser folder.

The “PlugInGuru Massive V1” file you downloaded will be a .zip file (Back this ZIP
FILE up somewhere!). Double-click and it will create an “un-zipped” folder named
“PlugInGuru Massive Power Pack V1 Folder”. Inside of this folder was this Read
Me along with the folder named “PlugInGuru Massive V1” that you need to move
into the Sounds folder inside your Massive Folder.

Open Massive, click the

Browser button (upper
Right) and click the “My
Massive” folder triangle to
open the folder and you will
see the Power Pack. Click
the Power Pack V1 folder
and all 132 patches show
up for you to select and
play!

SAME INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DEMO VERSION – you

only get a few of the kick butt patches to play with instead of all 132……

Same Location for PC users:

(~/Documents/Native Instruments/Massive/Sounds)

– if this is not correct, PLEASE let me know so I can update this

READ ME to the correct location these files go.

Category Definition
This Power Pack uses a 3 or 4 letter Category name before the Patch Name so that all
of the similar patches show up next to each other. I’m not a fan of libraries where the
basses are randomly placed thru a library…..

BS = Bass Patch – BTW, the dubstep Wobble Basses are tempo sync’d. Adjust the
“Ratio” value on the LFO Page to change the speed of the LFO. It will always be in sync
with your host DAW.

BEL = Bell Patch

BPM = rhythmic LFO or Envelopes and are Polyphonic
GTR = Guitar or Stringed Instrument
KEY = Keyboard
LD = Lead (Monophonic)
PAD = Synth Pad (slow attack, long release)
SFX = Mostly no tonality and difficult to describe
SYN = Fast Synth (faster attack, short release)
WIND = Wind Instruments but again, not acoustic emulations
REAL-TIME CONTROL !!
One of the BIGGER differences I’ve found between this library and many of the other
Massive Patch libraries is that I’ve spent hours and hours assigning the knobs to do
radical, powerful things to EVERY PATCH. Massive’s Oscillators work in a unique way
where turning a knob can provide a whole wavetable of different sounds – putting these
key controls onto one of the 8 knobs give YOU the user a place to go to easily transform
the patches either from the get go, or turn on automation and slowly move knobs while
the song developes.

For those of you totally new to synthesizers, you can change the knobs ANY way you
want and you won’t overwrite the existing programs. The ONLY way to change the
program is if you hit the “SAVE” button. I suggest using the “SAVE AS” button so that
you can give it a different patch name and not overwrite the original version of these
patches…. I also suggest making a backup of the ZIP file just in case you accidently
have a HD failure or other un-expected problem.

By the way, I didn’t assign the modlation wheel to any parameter since it’s so easy to
assign one of the 8 knobs to the Modulation wheel. Simply Control+Click on the knob
you want to control with the Mod Wheel (or any other knob on your controller) and select
“MIDI Learn” – move the Modulation wheel and you’re done!

From Skippy:
I first started working with Native Instruments
Massive 3 years ago. At first, when I would
load this instrument up, I would look at it,
and almost get dizzy trying to understand
how it works. I liked some of the patches but
felt most of them were either too complex, or
were just not useful to me. After finishing up
my Stylus RMX power pack, I knew this was
the next instrument to tackle because there
is SO MUCH amazing power in this
instrument - but it’s interface does not help
you until you REALLY understand how it
works. So while you are enjoying these
patches, make sure you visit
www.PlugInGuru.com or my YouTube
Channel www.youtube.com/thepluginguru
and watch my video tutorials so thatyou can
also learn the secrets of how to work with
Massive. Once you understand a few basic concepts, you will be off to making your own
patches in no time.

These 132 patches are designed to super-charge MASSIVE and take it into sonic worlds
that will inspire you and make you want to write new music !! I have only tapped the
surface of what can be created with this plug-in. Starting almost every patch from a
default scratch patch, these are truly original sounding patches that don’t sound like
anything in the existing Native Instruments library. These patches also required a good
deal MASSIVE amount of additional programming to assign the 8 performance knobs,
categorization and Patch comments to every Massive patch.

Final comment on piracy:

These patches will eventually show up on one of the many warez/torrent sites as a free
download. If you evaluate these patches and find that you will be using these in your
music – please purchase a legit copy of this library from pluginguru.com or from
soundstosample.com. Even if you’re not a professional, that is no excuse to steal from
someone who is making kick ass patches for you to use!! I believe BIG TIME in KARMA
– and owning your own copy of my patches is he right thing to do….

Thank you for your business!
