Chapter 5

SUMMARY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of findings, conclusion, and

recommendation of the initiated study of the effectiveness of using communication

and instructional materials to the academic performance of Bachelor in Secondary

Education students in St. Peter’s College SY 2018-2019. The researchers gathered

the GPA of the respondents specifically in Bachelor in Secondary Education

students. Moreover, it also aims to present the conclusion and recommendation.

Summary

The focus of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using

communication and instructional materials to the academic performance of the

Bachelor in Secondary Education students in the St. Peter’s College. The tool that

was used to gather the data was a survey questionnaire devised by the researchers

to answer the question posed for this research work.

Since communication is said to be beneficial in all aspects and is used every

day, oral communication can exist in many forms, including informal conversations

which occur spontaneously, and, in most cases, the content cannot be planned in a

structured environment. The use of instructional materials in teaching secondary

schools today are absolutely new. What is new is the technological equipment that

has been introduced recently into the teaching and learning process. With the

evolving technology and the new communication media, efforts are on the increase

in the application of instructional aid to learning; a development that has proven to

be beneficial to learners.

The study used the descriptive-correlation research design because it

described the data and characteristics of the population studied. It described the

effectiveness of using communication and instructional materials of the

respondents. Moreover, this study investigated the relationship communication and

instructional materials of the respondents.

In analyzing the data, the researchers used the Frequency and Percentage

Distribution and Pearson Correlation in order to understand interpret these data

correctly.

Findings

The following summarized findings were taken from obtained data of this

study.

1. Majority of the respondents had a satisfactory level in their academic

performance.

2. The result of the overall total communication of the respondents is strongly

agreed. The lowest mean of this problem is the 3.07 while the highest is the

3.67.

3. The result of the overall total instructional material of the respondents is

agreed. The lowest means of this problem is 2.47 and 2.90 while the highest

mean is 3.67.

4. The null hypothesis which states that there is no significant relationship

between academic performance and instructional materials were not rejected

while communication was rejected.

Conclusion

It is generally agreed that instructional material and their usage have a

profound influence on student academic performance and achievement. It is

achievement. The research however set to find out the effect of usage of

communication and instructional material on the academic performance of Bachelor

in Secondary Education students in St. Peter’s College. From the result of the

analysis, it was therefore concluded that the used of instructional and

communication was effective and enhancing the academic performance of the

students from the findings in experimental group where the study explored the

effectiveness of it.

Recommendations

In line with this study, the following recommendation is perceived to be

significant and substantial as far as the effectiveness of using communication and

instructional material to the academic performance of Bachelor in Secondary

Education students are concerned. These recommendations are then suggested to

enhance the use of communication and instructional materials of Bachelor in

Secondary Education students. The result of the study encourage the researches to

formulate the following recommendation.

To the Parents, Every parent may motivate their children to communicate

with speaking in their home setting because from time to time their children

confidently communicate to other people. In fact that the parents are the first who

will teach their children at home because they are the first teachers and model of

their own children.

To the Students, students may listen to their teacher discussion in order to

broaden their knowledge and to enhance their capabilities in communication skills.

They should participate in the discussion for them to pass their academic

performance.

To the teachers, teachers can help their students easily understood and

more interesting to listen to the lesson by speaking clearly in the discussion. They

should good communicator in communicating the class session to make the class

interesting. They should encourage their students to participate in communicating

during the session to enhance their communication skills. Constant oral recitation

should be imposed in every meeting in order to develop the student's

communication skills and confidence as well.

To the Administration, since the wold is now modernized, we can make use

of technology instruction in teaching. In this case, the administration could somehow

help the students in enhancing their communication skills in developing more

effective communication. Instructional materials in the classroom should be

provided because it could be applied by the teacher in teaching. Furthermore, they

should provide more instructional materials in the classroom that can easily use by

the teacher if they need it in their discussion.
