Summery on 5G-Ready Multi-Failure Resilient

and Cost-Effective Transport Networks

Although we generally imagine that 5G is a complex wireless technology, the vast network of fiber
optic cables is an integral part of the success of the implementation and operation of 5G which
will support it. Towards 5G networks add to the complexity where billions of devices, static and
mobile, are connected generating billions of megabits of data flooding the network and where
service providers struggle daily to deliver the key Performance indicators: lower latency, longer
battery life. data speeds, ultra-high reliability and more connected devices. The fiber optic world
that simultaneously experiences a denser and richer fiber density network infrastructure that is
severely weakened in rapidly developing countries due to heavy road construction another
infrastructure that inflicts repeated and unpredictable cuts to the extent that traffic is interrupted.
Therefore, the resistance of the network to fiber failures is already and will remain a priority for
operators. It depends SLA, operators choose from several resilience options, for example, to single
or multiple network layers, with dedicated protection or shared recovery, depending on decisive
factors such as network availability and total cost of ownership (TCO). With traditional network
architectures, high resilience is accompanied by a considerably higher TCO that involves an
optical transport network (OTN) switches, protection switching L1 and restoration L1. This results
in high CAPEX and excessive consumption of space and energy, which makes it difficult to
achieve perfect scalability with the increasing demand for more capacity. This article explores an
alternative hyperscale network architecture, which is adaptable and resistant to multiple fiber
failures, offering compromised service levels to end users and, at the same time, considerably
reduces the cost of the network compared to a traditional system Network switched by OTN.
Hyperscale architecture explodes under Operator footprint, type of high-density data center

control defined by software.

It also describes a routing and preparation algorithm to size a Group of shared resources for optical
restoration and a statistical simulation method for efficient execution over time, simulating failures
during a carefully selected subset of failure scenarios to ensure a high level of network availability.
In network simulation, the document demonstrates that resistance to multiple failures and
profitability they do not necessarily represent a contradiction in transport networks provided that
an appropriate network architecture is chosen and that effective network planning and optimization
is applied.

The proposed HCA solution is similar concept built on the building blocks of DCI-oriented
multiplexers, a flexible optical line system and a virtualized (central) system control aircraft for
ASON. Through network simulations on reference transport networks, it has been shown that there
are significant savings in CAPEX, footprint and energy consumption compared to traditional
architecture based on OTN switches, maintaining similar network resistance.
