NEWSLETTER January 2010

Work has begun……..

Work has begun on the Colleges new premises on the Old Munro Mill site, corner of Peel and Jewry Streets. The
excitement for Management Committee Members, Staff and Tutors is increasing as we see things change at the
Colleges new training facility and I am assured by the builder
that the renovations will be completed and the move will be in
June or July.

The new venue will allow us to double the number of training

rooms we currently have from 3 to 6 with a specially built
Computer training laboratory.

Keep an eye on our web site for up to date progress photos

as the building transforms into our new training facility.

The funding for the project is through the Australian

Governments Investment in Community Education and
Training fund as part of the national building infrastructure
package.

Executive Officer Report

2009 was a another great year for the College. A major achievement for us during the year was the purchase of
Munro’s Mill and gaining the funding from the Federal Government for the development of the site. When the building
is completed this June the College will be twice the size of the current building in Marius Street. Classes will be moved
to the new location at the beginning of term three.

Rooms at Munro’ s Mill will consist of four general purpose training rooms and two computer training rooms mostly
located in the single story section on the city side of the site. The College administration will be in the two storey
section with reception on the ground floor and office space on the second floor.

I wish to thank Hill Lockart Architects, Patrick O’Halloran Solicitors, Greg Bartlett Building and the
Tamworth Regional Council for their help and support in getting the project underway. From the
time that the Federal Government approved the funding application to building completion it will
only be nine months. An enormous effort by all involved in the project.

Other achievements for 2009 included the first work based trainees for the College. To date we
have taken on 20 trainees in Tamworth, Quirindi, Armidale and Guyra. A new focus for the staff
and trainers at the College. We also enrolled 8000 classroom based students during the year. No
wonder we were so busy!

The management and staff of the College wish you a successful and prosperous 2010 and we are
looking forward in sharing our skills with you throughout the year.
