2. Multi-tester preparation
2.1. Position the multi-tester in the most convenient way to read the results during
the test
2.2. Pull out the test probes
2.3. Set the tester into the lowest multiplier (Rx1)
2.4. Calibrate the pointer of the tester
3.5. Identify which of the unidentified terminals will show highest resistance
(With respect to the common © terminal)
3.5.1. Touch test probe 1 to the common terminal
3.5.2. Touch test probe 2 to either of the terminals
3.5.3. Remove and place test probe 2 to the remaining terminal while test probe 1 is
still on the common terminal
(At this point, the remaining terminal that shows highest resistance will be now
the START terminal. Therefore, the last unidentified terminal is the RUN
terminal.)
Results must conform to the expected outcomes form the test. However, any
unexpected results show a defective component in terms of electrical functionality,
this also signifies shorted, loose of contacts or exploded compressor.
