immersed in a constant temperature both at 650 C. Calculate
the pressure of the gas using (a) ideal gas law (b) Redlich-
Kwongg equation for ammonia, Tc = 405.7 k and Pc = 112.8 bar. 12
OR
6. a) Define chemical potential and state the criterion for phase
Equilibrium. 4
b) Write expressions for Raoult’s law and modified Raoult’s
law and explain the terms contained in them. 8

UNIT-IV
7. a) What do you understand by ‘a mole of a reaction’? 4
b) A system formed initially of 2 mol CO2, 5 mol H2 and
1 mol CO under goes the reactions:
CO2 3H 2 CH 3 OH H2 O
CO2 H2 CO H 2 O.
Develop expressions for the mole fractions of the reacting
species as functions of the reaction coordinates for the two
reactions. 8
OR
8. Obtain the defining equation for equilibrium constant and
explain the temperature dependence of equilibrium constant. 12

UNIT-V
9. Write on PCR primer design and DNA microarray design. 12
