Q1) Define Family?
A) According to me:-

“A group of people living together as a unit.”

1) According to Aristotle:-

“Family is a natural institution that is based on human needs because nobody can fulfil
all the needs alone.”

2) According to Professor Mac Iver:-

“Family is a union based on sexual relationship between (Husband and Wife).

3) According to Islamic ideology:-

“In islam the foundation of family is Nikkah which binds male and female in a
sacred relationship to pass their lives.”

Q2) What had Aristotle said about the person who lives outside a society?
A) “A person who lives outside a society is either a beast or god”.

Q3) What are objective of marriage?


A) The objectives are following:-

1) Birth of children.

2) Economic satisfaction

3) Getting of sympathetic life partner.

Q4) What are the basis on which kinds of families can be classified?
A) The basis are following:-

1) Structural basis

2) Principle of headship

3) Matrimonial laws.

A) The kinds of Families are classified in the following:-

1) Patriarchal Family:-
In this type of family, man enjoys pivotal position and importance. He is the head of the
family and is responsible for economic assistance.

2) Matriarchal Family:-

In matriarchal family, woman or wife is the head of the family.

3) Joint family system:-

The families who live together are called joint family.

It includes:-

Grandfather, Grandmother, Grandson, Granddaughter, uncle, aunts, Etc.

4) Conjugal family system:-

In this type of family Husband, Wife and Children live separately.

5) Monogamous Family:-

In this kind of family man can only carry one wife.

6) Polygamous:-

In this type of family man can carry one or more wives at the same time.

Q6) Tell us about the importance of family?

A) The importance are following:-

1) Procreation:-

When a man and a women constitute a family, their foremost desire is the expansion of
their race so they continue the process of procreation in dignified manner to preserve human race.

2) Nourishment of children:-

When a child is born, he is helpless and if he does not get the love and care from
his family, he will die within few hours. It means the family is responsible for the nourishment and
growth of their child. In short the family is responsible for its maintenance.

3) Education and Training:-

A family is responsible for providing education as well as moral training of their


child like:-

1) Respect your elder

2) Prevent bad habits

3) Prevent bad environment


4) Economic maintenance:-

Family is responsible for economic maintenance of a child. A child himself is not


able to earn and fulfil his needs so their parent bare all types of hardship to support their children
economically by providing them education or helping them in starting a new business.

5) Transfer of Cultural Heritage:-

When 2 persons (Male and female) Decide to live together for the rest of
their life or marry together their main objective is the progress of their generation for the transfer of
their culture or heritage.

6) Teaching of Obedience:-

Every family has a head and when his youngers pay him respect, the children will
learn from their elders and will respect them, but their elders do the opposite the result for them will
also be opposite.

A) Society is an English word which is derived from Latin word “Socius”. Which means a companions.

A) Man is a social animal and when he makes contact and relation with other people it forms an

Society is an organism that has its own singularity. Society formally passes through

A) Its characteristics are the following:-

1) Unity of thoughts and action:-

Unity of thoughts and action is an important characteristic of society. As


we all know that society consists of people living together but if their ideology does not match with each
other or have common interests then they can’t cooperate with each other. So it is the unity of their
thought and action which binds them together and as we all know: - “Unity is strength”.

2) Common Objective:-

A society is formed for common objectives of people living together. These


objectives are not temporary but are permanent. The achievement of common purposes creates
cooperation and unity among the people.

3) Permanent and durable:-

Society is permanent and durable. Due to common objectives and purpose


people living in a society together establish permanent and durable relationship with each other and
also struggle for their own purposes.

4) Natural Institution:-

Society is a natural institution of people because it is in human nature to become a


member of a society immediately by Birth for its own common objective and interest.

5) Comprehensiveness:-

It is a prominent feature of a society. All the matter of human life are included in
it. Even his relationship as an individual like:- Conscious, unconscious, organized, or disorganized are
included in it.

6) Changeableness:-

Society is changeable. Every society has its own rule and law, but are not static.
Society depends upon the ideology of the people living together and changes occur according to their
ideology and thought.

7) Universal nature:-

Society has universal nature and is free from territorial limitation.

For example:-

Muslims may live in many regions of world but are a member of Islamic society.

8) Organized society:-
Society is an organized group, therefore it has its own rules and regulation. These rules
differentiate from one society to another. If a person violates it rules, he is guilty of infringement of
social norm.

A) According to him: -

“The attributes of nationality originates in those persons who are consciously attached
in certain relationships on the basis of which they identify themselves as a separate social entity”.

The education and training of a child is given in a society. He learn from his
surrounding and then performs.

and cannot fulfil his mutual need so we can say that society is required for man for accomplishment of
his needs.

7) Collective progress:-

When you live in society than there is no you, there is only us and when a person
progress whether in science or any aspect of his life it is only because of the efforts made by the people
of his society. So a society progresses collectively.

Q18) Define Community and it kinds:-


A)1) Definition:-

.) According to me:-

“Community is that group of people who have organized themselves on the basis
common interests and values, in a specific territory.

.) According to Osborne:-

“A group of people living together in a specific territory having common interest


and activities and work together in all matters of life”.
.) According to Mac Iver:-

“Community is a group of people living together in all fields of life”

.) Prof.Ginsburg:-

Community is a group of people living within a specific territory and are united and
organized.

2) Kinds of community:-

There are 2 types of community.

1) Urban community:-

Urban community is very big and there is less interaction between people living in a
same area. Education and hospital facilities are very good.

2) Rural community:-

Rural community is very small and there is high interaction between people living in a
same area. Education and hospital facilities are very poor.

Q19) Define nation and nationality and differentiate between them?


A) In order to understand the difference we need to understand its definition.

1) Definition of Nation:-

.) Derivation:-

Nation is derived from a Latin word “Natio” which means birth so a nation is related to birth
or race.

.) Lord Bryce:-

“A nation is a nationality which has itself into a political body either independent or desiring
to be independent”

.) Gilchrist:-

“When a group of people organize into a state, it becomes a nation”

.) Hynes:-

“Nationality becomes a nation by attaining unity and political independence”.

2) Definition of Nationality:-

Nationality means feeling or sentiment of unity which develops among the


people of common attributes or race, color, and religion.

.) Gilchrist:-
“Nationality is a spiritual sentiment which originates in those people who belong to the
same race, and live in the same territory and possess common language, history and religion, ETC”.

.) Garner:-

“The attributes of nationality originate in those person who are consciously attached in certain
relationships on the basis of which they identify themselves”.

3) Difference:-

The main difference is that:-

“The term Nation is used in a political sense while Nationality is


sentiment or feeling produced by common characteristics”.
