Today, we have a lot of materials to choose a fashion item. From excellent leather goods to
your newly purchased home, office, car.
The majority of people will think that if buying fashion, buying Genuine leather like cowhide,
sheepskin, crocodile skin must be the most preferred choice. However, the high price makes
it difficult to reach the majority of consumers. So the race for quality, affordable products that
fit the vast majority of consumers have never stopped.
So today, I would like to share with you 1 kind of material with low price, diverse colours,
luxurious material is "Synthetic leather."
The synthetic leather process is formed after a series of complicated processing steps. This
is a combination of artificial chemical raw materials through chemical reactions from
molecules, plastics, PVC, Polyurethane and other materials made from PVC which are PVC
leather fabrics of principal components, polyurethane is Main components of PU leather
fabric.
The goal is to create the most realistic leather products. Therefore, synthetic leather is also
known as high-quality imitation leather.
However, synthetic leather, PU and PVC leather are hard to distinguish from the original
leather in terms of attractiveness and overall appearance. However, it still exists a lot of
differences for consumers.
In 1400, the parasol fabric used in the manufacture of lint for wax was considered the first
faux leather product. Over time, taking ideas from this fabric and combining it with several
other materials, this fabric has been improved to be stronger and more versatile.
To this day, the popular leatherette material made from polymers is PVC and PU leather.
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) leather appears before the PU leather is created by separating the
hydrogen molecule in the vinyl group and replacing with the chlorid group. It is then
combined with several other chemicals to create a very durable material.
Although manufacturers like PVC leather very much, it doesn't really impress tailors as well
as stylists. That's because it's not really authentic and even sticks together in warm weather.
Another minus is that it is waterproof.
Also, in terms of environment and health, PVC material emits dioxin, which is dangerous
when burnt and uses extremely toxic plastic. PVC leather is no longer used as much as the
1960s and 1970s. What is synthetic leather? Overview of all latest leatherette defects !!
However, with the commonly used PU leather, today is more resistant to dirt and very easy to
clean. Moreover, it also flies more slowly, even under direct light. In particular, PU also
releases less toxic substances into the environment than PVC.
Synthetic leather vinyl has been manufactured in the United States since the 1940s, initially
for products such as shoes, automotive interiors and upholstery. In the late 1950s, DuPont
and other chemical companies began developing polyurethane products.
Both polyurethane and synthetic vinyl leather are used to make clothing, upholstery and
product covers, but each is better for specific applications than others. PU fabric is softer,
more flexible and more breathable, so it is more commonly used to create highly abrasive
products, such as clothing and upholstery (surfaces in direct contact with the skin). Vinyl is
not as breathable as PU, but this is often ideal for products that need to prevent moisture
such as book covers or covers for electronics.
Vinyl leather
Vinyl leather is made of two separate composites. The fibres of the leather are constructed
from durable polyester. The fibres are then covered with vinyl, made from polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) and plasticizers (phthalic acid). This Vinyl is melted on the surface of the fibres, closes
them and creates an almost impermeable surface that remains flexible and supple.
Vinyl skins are easy to clean and maintain. This makes it ideal for situations where
cleanliness is a top priority, such as in hospitals and restaurants. Vinyl also does not require
any special care. However, Vinyl can become uncomfortably hot if left in the sun. The skin
will stick, creating an uncomfortable seating situation. Vinyl can also crack when used for
extended periods.
Polyurethane leather
PU is created by covering a backing such as cotton, polyester or rags with a flexible polymer
and then treating it to look like animal skin. Polyurethane leather is the most genuine
leatherette, you can use your hands to feel the surface and observe with the overall
appearance. They are also easier to decorate designs on them. Polyurethane is considered
to be better than Vinyl because it does not produce dioxins. PU is made from softer polymers
and therefore does not require additional plastic.
Advances in the development of artificial or synthetic leather have reached a stage where it
is hard to tell the difference between the two products after they are manufactured. There are
many types of products available covered with original water paint that replicate the feel of
genuine leather. Moreover, post-processing like washing makes the material as flexible and
supple as you expect, which makes it feel like real leather. Marvel is one of the few
companies offering PVC leather fabric with fragrance soaked into the skin that you can hardly
tell the difference!
2. Utilities
Advanced scratch resistance and high-performance coatings not only make synthetic
imitation eco-friendly, but they also allow them to be extra durable. In the interior,
manufacturers have PVC leather fabric by the rub test of real leather. Depending on the
application, faux leather can be customized to fit the shape and design better than genuine
leather. This is made possible by the different combinations of fabrics that support PVC
coating.
3. Maintenance
Genuine leather is often more challenging to maintain, requiring careful care. If you are
concerned about stains, scratches, spills and temperature resistance, then PU and PVC
leather are Eco Leather, stain-resistant, water-resistant, fire-resistant and also temperature
stable. It wipes merely and cleans!
Some manufacturers ensure that no heavy metals are used and that they comply with the
European REACH standards for the raw materials used. They recycle all air, solid and liquid
wastes entirely before disposing of. Moreover, artificial leather fights animal cruelty because
no animal is harmed in the process of making your product look premium!
5. Costs
Synthetic leather is a much cheaper alternative to genuine leather. Its replacement cost is
low and very customizable. A variety of designs and colours are available, and therefore you
are not limited to choose.
IV.II DISADVANTAGES
_ Need to keep PU leather away from heat sources.
Above is some information about what synthetic leather is, characteristics to distinguish
synthetic leather as well as why synthetic leather is used so much in today's life.
How easy it is to clean the PU leather jacket you have depends on how dirty it is.
Steps to follow:
For dirt that cannot be easily cleaned by wiping with water as above, you need to apply hand
washing for the jacket.
Preparation: Warm water; Washing liquid; Small pots and 01 clean cloth.
Making:
Step 1: Mix a mixture of warm water and washing water in a small basin.
Step 2: Use a cloth dipped in the mixture and wiped the jacket.
Step 3: Hang up to hang or hang to dry.
Machine wash
Before putting PU leather jacket into the washing machine, you need to check the label
carefully.
If the label says that you can only wash your hands (handwash only), be very careful.
If not, you can choose light spin spin level for washing PU leather jackets.
VII. Is the synthetic leather application proper?
Today, people use Pu leather a lot for manufacturing industries.

Is PU leather durable?
PU leather is not as durable as genuine leather, and its lifespan is therefore shorter.
