ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES

Stars produce electromagnetic radiation in many wave lengths.

But Earth's atmosphere blocks some of them.On earth's surface we get visible light, radio waves and some infra
red.

TRANSVERSE WAVES

In physics, a transverse wave is a moving wave whose oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of the wave. A
simple example is given by the waves that can be created on a horizontal length of string by anchoring one end
and moving the other end up and down.

INFRARED WAVES

Heat lamps often emit both visible and infrared energy at wavelengths between 500nm to 3000nm in length.

ULTRAVIOLET WAVES

Ultraviolet Waves are utilized by insects to locate nectar.

RADIO WAVES

Waves are transverse waves that disturb electromagnetic fields.

GAMMA WAVES

Waves are transverse waves that disturb electromagnetic fields.

Newton's first law: An object at rest remains at rest, or if in motion, remains in motion at a constant velocity unless
acted on by a net external force.

Newton's second law: The acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the amount of force
applied.

Non contact force examples:

Examples of non-contact or action at a distance forces, which are given in the list given below:

 Gravitational force

 Electromagnetic force

 Weak nuclear force

 Strong nuclear force

There is something called the rule of matter in science. Matter cannot be created or destroyed. Now, provided that
the person is not decaying in space or on earth and is alive on the other, the mass in this person would remain the
exact same. This means that answer D: the mass would be the same on the moon as it is on earth.

Now, if we were talking weight, that’s a different story. Neil Armstrong lost quite a bit of weight on the moon from
the lack of gravity and the ease with which he was able to spring around. That’s just the cut of the cloth, and it’s
not going to change for anyone who goes to the moon. Weight changes; mass does not.

The mass of the bowling balls is greater than the mass of the basketballs. Its more difficult to move objects of more
mass. Since the vans are the same mass, the difference in mass has to be directly relative to the balls. Bowling balls
have a denser core than basketballs which are filled with air.

Which of Newton's Laws is demonstrated by a ball rolling to a wall then stopping?

Newton s First Law

Newtons First Law states that an object in motion (like a ball) will remain in motion (rolling) unless an outside force
acts on it (a wall).

Which best explains why we are able to accelerate forward when starting to run?

The striking foot pushes backward against the ground. The friction with the ground provides an equal and opposite
force forward.
------

Which of Newton's Laws gives the reason for why you can feel things that you touch?

Third Law: Forces act in equal and opposite pairs.

Which of the following actions would change your weight but not your mass?

Teleporting to the moon
