Mechanism Action
Enhancing epithelial barrier by protecting the defence components from
getting disrupted
Increased adhesion to intestinal mucosa and mucin ( a complex glycoprotein mixture),
concomitant inhibition of pathogen adhesion secreted by intestinal epithelial cells (IEC),
prevents adhesion of pathogenic bacteria
Competitive exclusion of pathogenic by competing for receptor sites in the
microbes intestinal tract by one or more methods like
creating an antagonistic micro ecology,
eliminating the existing bacterial receptor
sites, secreting antimicrobial elements and
selective metabolites, and by depleting the
essential nutrients.
Releasing anti-microorganism components by secreting organic acids and bacteriocins
which destruct the pathogenic cells by pore
formation and/or inhibit the synthesis of cell
wall.
