General Description
The lubrication tank has sufficient capacity to provide an operating oil
quantity equal to 24.75 hours of operation at the maximum permissible
oil consumption rate of 0.38 ℓ/h (0.40 qt/h).
Components
The oil reservoir includes the components listed below:
• Gravity-fill port with protective 10 x 10 wire-mesh screen.

• Gravity operated flapper shut off valve to prevent oil tank over fill
(located in the reservoir).

• Locking oil filler cap with backup flapper valve to prevent oil from
escaping if the cap is not sealed properly.

• Sight glass for visual oil level indication.

• Drain plug.

• Vortex-type deaerator to separate scavenge return air from the oil

and direct it to the forward sump.

• Tank pressurizing valve which opens at 34 - 62 kPa (5 - 9 psid)

above forward sump pressure, to make sure the correct
lubrication pump operation at all altitude conditions. The
pressurizing valve piston has a small bleed hole to permit system
pressure decrease after engine shutdown.

• Continuous oil level/temperature sensor.

Training Information Points
The oil tank can be filled manually by means of the gravity fill port.
A sight glass shows oil level.
