Communitary bank for anyone to invest in sustainability / sustainable holiday

and food

We currently live a special time of human being History, the climate change
time.
15 years ago, I was studying sustainable tourism development and yet, I could
figure out thanks to the lessons that the situation was not great : contamina-
tion of the air, contamination of the oceans and overfishing, drought in China,
in Australia or in United States, losing of the biodiversity, etc...
About 7 years ago and on another side, developing touristic accomodation as a
job, I started to develop gardens for those accomodations - sometimes for pri-
vate houses also, to support the access to organic food directly from the gar-
den, based on the amazing concepts of agroecology and food forest ; and to
start serving more organic food and include more natural products in the offer
as it is good for the body, healthy for the people.
And I wanted to care people, to care my customers.

3 years ago, I came to Australia and found out what is living with a few water.
What is struggling with saving the land and the trees.The situation about cli-
mate change got a reality.
However, without thinking of a big tool to change things for anyone on our pla-
net but through a small sustainable developement local project, I started to
think about :

- how could I give free organic food to all my customers, or even more to
people in general ?
- How could I teach those guys - workers, customers - doing what I do, and know
better their power as citizens, deciding for planting their own organic farm or
garden, deciding for changing their way of life to something closer from na-
ture ? Closer from what makes us feeling good doing something for the planet ?
- Also, how could I create more jobs, nice jobs where people could work in many
lovely gardens, farms, or touristic accomodations ? And at the end, support
economical and social local development.
Tourism is actually often one of the main industries of a place. As an
exemple , it is equal to almost 7% of the French GDP.

I travelled a lot ; in South America I travelled to Peru, Chile, Argentina, Bo-

livia, Colombia, and settled in Ecuador.
I realised even more the emergency of creating sustanaible jobs, like in Peru
in the beautiful Puerto Maldonado region that is part of the Amazonian jungle,
where many jobs are about gold illegal extraction and the huge consequences on
nature. Despite the fact that we could way more develop tourism in this region,
and stop the explotation of Earth resources.
I thougt : and if we had a system that conect anyone to their power of changing
things ?

I have a friend in Australia who created a communitary bank. What is a communi-

tary bank ? It is actually working as a bank, but where people are the main ac-
tors. It’s a bank for anyone to invest at the community level and to become a
great actor of economical and social changes.

If I create a bank, we could all of us put a bit of our money in it, and start
using this money to support sustainable gardens and touristic accomodations and
so, jobs as we need people to work there. To give to the people the opportunity
to develop themselves caring nature.
Here is how the bank works : I save $10 on the 1st of January. On the 1st of
February, I am allowed to use my $10, to spend it in a night in a touristic ac-
comodation, or I can buy food from any organic selling point, or I can just
wait to save more money to use it. Do you know Paypal ? This bank is actually
like Paypal. Except that, you do not really have the choice to waste your money
where you like. You will have to spend that money you have saved on your commu-
nity account in the places that are members of the community. You will anyway
support nature caring and sustainable jobs development. Coming into the commu-
nity, you will find out that yet the network of citizens who want to change
things are quite big : local accommodations, farms, restaurants and/or organic
shops. Thanks to the community network, each place will be developed on agroe-
cology concept and will include organic food and drinks in the meals they
serve. Plus, it garanties that this place trains its employees in planting
trees, renewing the soil with compost, learning on developing sustainable far-
ming/gardening and tourism.
At the end, thanks to this bank, you could buy or rent anything related to pro-
tecting people and nature. As you would do it today, as a citizen. Do not ex-
pect big companies or banks to do it for you, do it yourself !
And enjoy your holiday as this communitary bank is also made for you to save
money.

One of the goals of the bank is also to lend money, because we all need money
to invest in our life - education, land, holiday...- And develop ourselves.

So, if we are 10 people saving $10 on the 1st of January. We will have $100
dollars to use on the 1st of February. Concentrating financial interactions
between you and I, between any citizen without the need of anyone else.
