TUBERCULOSIS

Tuberculosis or TB is a contagious infection that usually attacks

your lungs. It can spread to other parts of your body, like your brain and spine.
A type of bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis causes it.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

A cough that lasts more than 3 weeks

Chest pain
Coughing up blood
Feeling tired all the time
Night sweats
Chills
Fever
Loss of appetite
Weight loss
ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTION
Anyone who has ever had a cold knows about acute respiratory
infections (URIs). An acute URI is a contagious infection of your upper
respiratory tract. Your upper respiratory tract includes the nose, throat,
pharynx, larynx, and bronchi.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Congestion, either in the nasal sinuses or lungs.
Runny nose.
Cough.
Sore throat.
Body aches.
Fatigue.
INFLUENZA (FLU)
Influenza is a viral infection that attacks your respiratory system — your
nose, throat and lungs. Influenza is commonly called the flu, but it's not the
same as stomach "flu" viruses that cause diarrhea and vomiting. For most
people, influenza resolves on its own. But sometimes, influenza and its
complications can be deadly.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Fever over 100.4 F (38 C)

Aching muscles.
Chills and sweats.
Headache.
Dry, persistent cough.
Fatigue and weakness.
Nasal congestion and Sore throat
DENGUE FEVER
Dengue fever is a painful, debilitating mosquito-borne disease caused by any
one of four closely related dengue viruses. These viruses are related to the
viruses that cause West Nile infection and yellow fever.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Sudden, high fever

Severe headaches
Pain behind the eyes
Severe joint and muscle pain
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting
Skin rash, which appears two to five days after the onset of fever
Mild bleeding (such a nose bleed, bleeding gums, or easy bruising)
PNEUMONIA
Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both
lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or pus (purulent material), causing
cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. A variety of
organisms, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, can cause pneumonia

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Cough, which may produce greenish, yellow or even bloody mucus

Fever, sweating and shaking chills
Shortness of breath
Rapid, shallow breathing
Sharp or stabbing chest pain that gets worse when you breathe
deeply or cough
Loss of appetite, low energy, and fatigue
Nausea and vomiting, especially in small children
BRONCHITIS
Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes, the airways that
carry air to your lungs. It causes a cough that often brings up mucus. It can
also cause shortness of breath, wheezing, a low fever, and chest tightness.
There are two main types of bronchitis: acute and chronic

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Cough.
Production of mucus (sputum), which can be clear, white,
yellowish-gray or green in color — rarely, it may be streaked with
blood.
Fatigue.
Shortness of breath.
Slight fever and chills.
Chest discomfort.
