 ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

PART 1

PURPOSE:

The main purpose of this assignment is to enable students to understand duties and
responsibilities of counsellors in a school setting / NGO / your organisation or any other
organisation. It also enables the students to use their analytical thinking skills to analyse the
challenges faced by school counsellors and suggest ways to overcome those challenges.

REQUIREMENT:

You are required to interview a counsellor working in a chosen organization to gather

information about the counsellor’s academic and training background You also need to
provide a brief background about the counsellor services provided. Explain the duties and
responsibilities of the counsellor concerned. Analyze the challenges faced by the counsellor
and suggest ways to overcome those challenges so that the counsellor can play a more
effective role in the respective organization.

PART 2

PURPOSE:

This part is a continuation from Part 1. The purpose of this part of the assignment is to enable
students to evaluate the services provided by the counselling and guidance unit in the
organisation that they have visited.

REQUIREMENT:

Counselling provides clients with a safe place to discuss any issues that they are struggling
with. Counselling services provided by counsellors can be either prevention or remediation in
nature. By focusing on prevention, discuss in details activities that have been implemented
in the organisation that you have visited. To what extent have those activities brought about
positive changes among clients?
