Method Statement Work procedure

Inform the customer: Inform the customer about the work description and procedure

Safety Toolbox Talk Conduct TBT with the Team; Fill the START Card, discuss about the risk and hazards involved in the task,

Warning signs Place the caution signage board and barricading the place where risk of falling exists.

PPE Required Hand gloves, Safety shoes, safety goggles, dust masks and Hard Hat.
ORGANISATION DETAILS

Preparation:
 Self-supporting hoist frame (A Frame) and chain hoist rated for the maximum weight of the heaviest
Tools & Equipment machine/gearbox combination (up to 600 kg)
 Torque wrench 85-190 Nm
 Load ring M12 standard 3,4kN,
 Load ring M12 reinforced 19,6kN
 Lifting equipment (Chain Block, Slings etc.)
 3 chisels
 Sponge or rough cloth for cleaning
 Cleaning detergent
 Grease

 Perform a job hazard


analysis prior to
performing the
procedure explained
in this instruction.
 The unit is shut off
(set safety barriers
and warning signs on
entrance and exit).
 The main switch is
switched off and
secured against
restarting – LOTO

1. To lift the motor,


proceed as follows:

2. Remove dirt and

inspection and later
assembly. Corroded
areas on the surfaces
of the shafts are
acceptable as long as
there are no material
deformations as
shown

3. To check the feather

4. Burn on gearbox
flange

 Check the machined


surface of the gear
flange for burrs, which
protrude vertically.

 Replace the complete


drive unit if there are
burrs or other foreign
parts on the flange

5. Lubricate feather key

To treat the parts with


lubrication, proceed
as follows:

 Clean surfaces with


rust solvent e.g.

 Lubricate the drive
shaft, gearbox hollow
shaft and the feather
key connection with
high-performance
lubricating paste

6. Re-assemble motor
and gearbox and

 Place the drive shaft
vertically exactly
above the gearbox
hollow shaft. Pay
attention to a correct
alignment of the
feather key on the
motor drive shaft to
the feather key slot on
the gearbox hollow
shaft and the motor
drive shaft to the
gearbox hollow shaft.
 Let the drive slowly
down till it is fitted

flush in the gearbox.
 Apply the fixing screw
for drive and gearbox
with washers and
nuts. Tighten with
tightening torque as
shown in Table 1:
Tightening torque.
 Remove the load ring
from the motor shaft.
 Connect the cable
connections if
necessary.
 Carry out a test run.
 Only re-start the unit
when safety is
ensured.
 Close the unit and
remove safety
precautions.

Operate the Escalator in Operate the elevator in normal mode.
